Kessil A350

7 months with kessil A350... sps growing very well but I had to be careful with lps because they were not reacting very well with both channels at 100%.
Running blue channel at 100% and white channel at 35/40%.

Marco your tank is supplemented with two par38 lights, this reinforces my skepticism on the A350 and SPS.

I ended up switching back to T5's after 3 months of trying to work with Kessil. Long story short I had two A350's and the colors did not match. After trying two different replacements, both had problems, bad potentiometers, mis-firing channels, and color/intensity issues. They wanted to send me three more lights to try out so I could match the color with the one I had.
With one out of four working correctly, I would be picking from 7 lights to find two that match?. Having a 25% success rate with the lights I have on hand I decided that was not good enough to gamble on my tank and took them down. After talking to the manager I found out that the potentiometers are not consistent under 30%. I wish I would have known this when I was researching lighting options, as I would have made a different choice.
I really wish they had worked, they do put out a nice shimmer. One thing I do notice since switching back is the lack of shadows, I have a lot more real-estate for coral that I did not notice before.

Owning 6 of these lights, I have not had this experience. Though I have never had them under 30%, why would you turn them that low.

My kessil maxspect hybrid lighting system. :)

There you go, it looks like an alien ship ready to land over my reef. It works for me now and gives me the dawn to dusk effect that I really like with a fully programmable LED lighting system.

Cheers,
John

That is a cool setup. What size is your Aquarium?

I've had my Kessil 350 for awhile over my Biocube 29, but I can't quite dial it in. Any suggestions on the power levels I should be running each channel on over this tank with a mixed reef? Light is about 8" over the water.

I have a A30 the narrow angle over a 29 biocube. I have both dialed in a 30% power. I can give it a little more blue but i like the way it looks now. If the white goes up anymore I will notice the corals burning. It is in my work office so people mess around with it and it can happen.

I have 2x 350W over 90G 48x18x24Tall and have them 12" above the water at 50% each (both channels). Everything is doing great except the open brain, which I had to move towards the bottom end of the tank. The light's been over my tank about 8 month's now. Love'em!

wow, 24" tall at 12" and you're at 50%. impressive. I have the A350W on my 20"H x 24"W x 20"D at 10" above the water line. My channels are 100% blue and 50% white. Think I may tune my blue down a bit and see how things react. The spread on these tuna blues is impressive for such a small fixture and I'm glad to see they are covering your 90.

I find with the blue at 100% It's too washed out blue looking. My corals (LPS & Softies) are not puffed up when the whites are at 100%. I plan to ramp the white up to 100% when I start replacing softies with SPS.

I have 3 A350w's over my 150 gallon 6 foot long tank. I turned mine up too fast and corals were not happy. My open brain on the sand was doing terrible. I currently am at about 35 % white and 100% blue and things are looking much better. I also have a clam near the bottom and even with the whites down low it is laid out flat and not reaching for light. These lights are really strong. I also started with the lights at only about 5 inches off the water because the goosenecks just don't want to bend that far up. I straightened them out some and hung them with zip ties using the screw in ring. Looks pretty much the same and they are now 12 inches off the water and can get higher if need be.

Up to about 70% for each now, everything is still doing great. I'll wait a week or so to push it a little more.

I am goign to be upgrading from a 4 bulbs t5 system on my 40 breeder to a kessil a350w I am hoping I will get good enough coverage that I will only have to use the one and hopefully I dont have to change my rock work and everything but if so I will try and find another one used for sale or something

@ Johniii: I've got a 72 gal bowfront as well and am thinking of picking up a couple of the A350W. Have you been satisfied with the lights? If you had to do it over, would you go with the A350W or the regular A350? My tank is a built-in so I'll be hanging them a bit closer to the water as well.

Get the A360 not the A350

The A360 has the same output as the A350 right? I have two 350W on my 150g sps tank, but I want to get a third for the center of the tank to fill in shadows...

I've had my A350 over my nano cube for several months now. I'm getting decent growth on my SPS and pretty good color on everything except my GARF purple bonzai and Palmers Blue milli which are both dull in color. However, I had increased both channels to 100% with the light only 5 inches or so over the top of the water. I dialed down both channels to 75% to see if I get any response from the dull SPS or maybe some increase in zoa reproduction.

Overall I'm happy with the light and I may stick with it when I switch to my Solana Superbrite just because of the clean look of it on a rimless and the nice shimmer. If there's anything I'm not crazy about it would be the one single light source. It does cause some shady areas and parts of coral that lack color due to shading on one side. I can say though that these lights can grow out SPS with good color for sure.
