Overall I'm happy with the light and I may stick with it when I switch to my Solana Superbrite just because of the clean look of it on a rimless and the nice shimmer. If there's anything I'm not crazy about it would be the one single light source. It does cause some shady areas and parts of coral that lack color due to shading on one side. I can say though that these lights can grow out SPS with good color for sure.

I'm in the same boat. I'm actually tempted on going with 2x 350s over my Solana, lol!
 
I was thinking the same thing buddy. I was pondering if I could rig up a plate to mount 2 A350s about 4 inches apart on the same gooseneck. I think it could work and it would still maintain a nice simple and fairly clean look.

I wouldn't mind trying a radion for my Solara build but it's a shame to rig some giant contraption with cranes and pullys over a nice clean rimless tank.

The Photon fixtures appear to be just like any of the other Made in China LED. So you would probably get more wattage and more spread with the controller built in for a good price, but the Kessil LED is all about the quality of the light with a compact nice looking fixture.

You really can't compare Quantity vs. Quality.

You'd be surprised at the build quality of the RB photon units! While they look a little brickish, they are built very well, have a great controller and pump out some serious light. I like my a350w but my best friend has the 16in photon on his cube and it is definately a fixture to be recond with.

I guess when i say quality I am referring to the LED diode itself. The Dense Matrix from Kessil is top notch and the only one made for reef aquariums.
 
I'm looking to place a 360w over a solana, suspended from ceiling. Can someone advise if the cables are detachable, or hard wired?
May have to splice a cable run about 50ft
 
I am 7 months into mine .. very happy with mine zoa growth has been excellent lps growth has been good. Sps color is a little off but growth is still decent.My days of mh and t5 are over
 
Looks like the a360 got snapped up pretty quick on the first go around. Seeing alt of out of stock out there.

Could someone show a picture of the power cord please?
How long is it? What kind of connector?
Trying to figure out how I can route it, through a pipe/channel, or if it's detachable, if I can splice connector and run through ceiling to a cabinet 15 feet away.

This is how I did it when I had one over a 50g. The fixture has a short pigtail and it connects to a pretty long cable that connects to the transformer. You can certainly route it thru a small diameter pipe.

You will have the main power plug (wall to power supply) that is 6', 180cm

Then the power supply will have a cord that goes to the Kessil. That is 5', 155cm

Then the Kessil itself will have a short cod that connects to the power supply cord that is 9", 23cm.

Then you should get an extension cable that goes in between the light and power supply. That is 79", 200cm.


Giving you a total of 226", 574cm. of cord (with the length of the power supply added.)

For those who have a A360 model the Apex, Reef Keeper, and Daisy Chain cords will be 6', 180cm.

I have a related question: what is the width/dia of the cable from the fixture to power supply?

I am planning to build a tank mount stand & want to hide the wires in some t-slot framing. The width of the t-slot in standard 1" framing is just over 1/4" so I'm not sure it will fit.

I've had one of these running for several months with pretty good success. My only issues were dull tan colored purple bonsai and Palmer's blue milli and a ponape birdsnest that was somewhat bleached.

I had slowly gotten both blue and white controls up to 100% with the light only 4 or 5 inches over the top of the tank. Well I dialed the white back to about 60% and the blue to about 70% and 7-10 days later my ponape is looking amazing again and I can see deep purple slowly returning to the bonsai. The Palmer's milli has better polyp extension than ever and is starting to get that vibrant blue back.

Moral of the story, if you switch from halide to LED don't get greedy. My eyes have gotten used to a tank that isn't visible from space. It looked dim right after switching out the halide but it looks fine now and my coral are happy and growing. I'm switching from a NC28 to a Solana Superbrite pretty soon and the A350 is coming along for the ride.

Do you (or anyone else) know what the LED color spectrum is on the Kessils? I have been looking for a while and can't find anything. I'm specifically wondering which color temperatures are used to make up the light.. Warm white? Blue? Royal? Any uv or violet in there?
