Kessil A350

Those of use who knew about the A350 were told not to disseminate information until Kessil officially announced it. This was out of respect for both Kessil and all those involved with the product.
 
Just this "leak" alone will make at least a few of us wait until the Tunablue comes out rather than go elsewhere like the radion or DIY setups. I have to say I'm fairly impressed with the overall design and the adjustability, that said without anything more than a few pics and a description. I'm not one for the stats and scores, more for proven performance, but only time will tell that. Definately ready to see these officially be announced.
 
Yea atleast I know it exists now and isnt a rumor....so ill wait for these now instead of buying some other leds
 
I want to know if 2 of these are a good replacement for a 400w halide, RBTA at the top, toadstool and plates on the bottom are a little different than clams and SPS. Match that with how little I know about LEDs to begin with and I figure the question is worth asking, seems there are a few folks that are in the know. Summer is comming and it gets hot in Texas, these would pay for themselves within the next year for me.
 
RBTAs request a good bit of light...I would know, mine hates mh light and has only ever thrived under powerful T5. I'm sure that the kessil is up to the task, only because if you look at how they work...its actually quite impressive how well they simulate a mh (they claim around 250w equivalent on the H350). I'm pretty sure that 2 would be good for our tanks. If the price is right i may take the challenge with you and we can compare notes...

...but I'm sure neither of us will throw out/sell our old lights just yet. ;) (we could finally bade head to head results comparisons)
 
There does not "seem" to be any real specs out yet for this light. Heck the company has not even released this information out that the light even is for sale. So I dont think anybody can make a real claim saying that this light will replace a 400W MH light bulb or any light for that matter yet. I'm still curious as to how this guy/gal got ahold of a light to begin with. Are they apart of a test pilot program? Are they intentionally leaking out a little bit of info to tease people? Is it really that close to being released? Who knows, but to speculate what the light will do is premature I think at this point of the game. I want to know too, and for me I am in the planning process of a tank build. I would rather have these lights compared to others, but they need to meet my needs just like everyone else. So no disrespect to anybody but there isn't any official specs, news on this light yet.

Keeping quiet only increases the chances of someone who is either unaware or impatient buying A150's & then regretting it.
Sure it helps Kessil shift more A150 stock but nobody likes that the thing I just bought is superceded feeling eh?
Either way Kessil are awesome game changers!
Joe is there any fan like the A150 or is it totally silent?

Madean: I am still going by what they claimed for the H350...in that its similar to a 250w MH. Again, I'm sute these will be quite similar as they have stated it will. Only big difference will probably be the color dimming ability and the spectrum. But odds are it will have similar specs cause they are using the same building method. So thats where I get my ball park figures. It would be nice if they were colder to a 400w, but that will probably be the "next" milestone in single led pendant technology.

Rupert: yes they have a fan and a really neat/ingenious liquid cooling pre-heatsink. Check out the "JOBBA350" on their website. :D
 
Dave that halide cooked that nem, I remember growing BTA in 55s with 2-4 T8 bulbs at 40w apiece. And we were pimp because we could run 3 whites and 1 actinic or 2 actinic and 2 white. That's about all I remember of the early 90s, fish tanks and pet shops, not much difference than the last 7 years. The buzz is over, back to waiting on an "official release".
 
I was talking about mine...its never thrived under a MH...only T5s ever did it justice. In other words, rbta's can handle a ton of light. Once they acclimate to it...then its hard to go to less light. That's why I'm optimistic that the kessil will be ok...BUT, its still too early to tell on these cause they have not had time enough on anyone's tank.

I wholeheartedly agree with this which is why I was so aghast at the attack he received just for stating that he has a pair and liked the way they looked. I suppose calling him a troll was not considered a personal attack or being hostile or inflammatory. I also suppose that shouting HOAX and accusing him of being "mean spirited" was only meant to encourage further constructive dialogue. How any of this could be construed as creating an environment that newcomers can feel free to post without fear is a mystery to me. The fact that he was a newcomer was even used against him. I have a very different interpretation of these rules.
 
Shouting hoax was only to encourage him to post photos to prove me wrong. In no way was that a personal attack. I have been nothing but kind to any and all members of this forum at all times, even if i do not agree with them. I appogized to him to keep the good nature of this thread but why should I? I didn't believe his first 3 posts on the matter an there is nothing wrong with that. Even still those pics might not even be his, only joe knows the truth abou that.

What is the worth arguing an pointing fingers over some he said she said garbage? It takes away from the integrity and potential of this thread. We shiuld all be more concerned with the par numbers this light will give than wasting our time pointing fingers
