Kessil A350

man, i don't know what the fuss is about. i knew nothing about Kessil a week ago and have been seriously debating the merits of led lighting altogether, but after catching this thread, I'm so excited about the 350, i want to design a whole tank around a few!
this the best advertising they will ever get!
I'm practically sold on them.
 
wow.... this is just rediculous. Its experiences like this that really makes me not want to participate in these forums. I for one was excited to hear "some" news, whether it be hearsay or not, and thought I would share it since it was good news to share. I guess next time I hear something I will just keep it to myself
 
Some folks just cast a negative light on what should be positive situation. We did manage to get a few pics and a general idea of what is to come, not to mention an "official release date". Not to bad for a simple thread IMO, if you can't look over the negative comments to get to the good ones I would suggest a new method for your research/enjoyment. Not trying to be mean but these thread get that way some times unfortunately. I'm still excited about this light, and nobody is gonna put a damper on that now.
 
Wow...all I did was ask if anyone had heard of this pendant and when and if it was being released. I never meant for my thread to start controversy and accusations. We're talking about a friggin' light here people.

I applaud some of you for obviously not having anything worse happening in your lives that this thread has the gravity to weigh on you so much. Let's lighten up a little...no pun intended.

I clearly stated on the first page of this thread on post 11 everything I knew...and still have no more information other than someone's picture of a box and an assumed product tester's tank. Apparently we'll all have to see if this really happens. I would imagine that an energy saving, SPS supporting LED light would have a better introduction and sales going into the summer months when many worry about the heat and electricity usage in their systems. I'm reaching here, and trying to give Kessil the benefit of the doubt for keeping things so secretive, but I guess they enjoy the buzz and stir.

Can't we all just get along...:lmao:

Why would there be an official announcement if they are still going though the R&D? I am sure they will get you any info they can when they are ready but be patient. Watch Kessils FB page.

If you are sworn to keep it secret them maybe it would be best if you did keep it to yourself.
 
There was an announcement on the FB page for Kessil Yesterday that I posted earlier, it will be announce in April. That is progress to me, that is why I spend time on this forum.
 
Amazing how much excitement can be generated and then how much people can poop on it.

Consider me excited and grateful. Whoever thought that Kessil would get their feelings hurt over a photo posted on a forum and abandon the $$$ of the reefing community is just ridiculous - preposterous even. An utterly absurd idea.
 
Joe seems to be hyping and promoting his product for free on ReefCentral. Hey joe, at least become a sponser here before you so slyly push your Kessil products you just happened to buy directly from them, because you live six miles from the company, and you were sworn to secrecy. I can't believe so many people, and mods especially, fell for "joe" and his mysterious product pictures. We had a similar issue last year when a supposed hobbiest/poster was hyping a certain new LED fixture and it later turned out he was the main distributor for the product. Hmmm, makes you wonder about good ole "joe"?

It appears that even though "Joe" may not work for Kessil (according to the e-mail sent to franklypre), his relationship with them may be tarnished if a leak wasn't Kessil's intent. As many have already mentioned, a previous RC member was banned for acting as a hobbyist talking about and enlightening us on his new LED fixture, when in fact he was a distributor for the company. That same "hobbyist" was chosen as a picture of the month on another reef forum that I use to frequent, and surprise, surprise...the very light fixture he was pushing on us was up as a raffle that month as a giveaway. That really turned me off. Even though it may be an extreme coincidence, it appears some other sites may have a "pay to play" MO, or at the very least are willing to compromise integrity for some green George Washingtons.

Regardless of whether "Joe" chooses to post par readings or other pictures/information, it seems that the A350 is coming, and that an April announcement is anticipated. You just can't buy this kind of advertising.

I guess we'll all have to wait and see...with the early adopters showing us the ins and outs of how well it works for SPS...since that is the interest of this forum.
 
I am actually quite interested in the A350 and would certainly welcome par measurements from joe. I am fairly certain he is not an employee of Kessil. I am not so sure that he isn't an independent promotional firm that reps Kessil or even a current distributor for their products. His initial posts seemed sketchy right off the bat. I intend on transitioning to LED in the near future, and I have seen Kessil in person and am impressed with their products. I am looking forward to an official statement, pics, spec, etc. directly from Kessil, and not some mysterious poster who coincidentally showed up on RC just before the A350 are rumored to be released. He has 21 posts and all but three are not about this product.

I do agree, this thread is great free advertising for Kessil.

So who in Cali wants to step up to the plate and show joe how to take some par measurements? The local clubs must have one or two floating around. Now that the cat is out of the bag i say we celebrate it!
 
I wonder how well they are planning to distribute and fill initial orders? The A150 was hard to find for a couple months after it's release. I live close to San Fran (the company's headquarters) so I might take a weekend shopping trip soon!:beer:
 
I hope someone takes pre orders or something, I have a feeling I'm getting one regardless but I would definately like to do so before summer and not have to wait on backorder.
 
There is a lot of banter here. It seems if things get repeated enough, it becomes true, like a cable TV news program.

There is no US factory, they are clearly made in Taiwan. If you want to find the LFS that sold the prototypes you need look no further than the 50 miles from Kessil Design Shop and receiving warehouse.

The idea that this will replace a 400 watt halide is not based in reality. The A150 is closer to a 100 watt halide with a narrower distribution pattern. This uses 32 watts, so it is reasonable or optimistic to think this will replace a250 watt halide at 86 watts.

It is also likely Kessil does not have advanced aquarists on it's staff and requests support. Tnere have been half dozen reports of A350 being available if you know somebody. I think the a350 box shown above already includes the heat sink inside it.

So the price will be 369 on release? Again I hope so.....
