Kessil A350

Marco,
Would you attributre this to a high dose of radiation? Running the whites at 100%?

Well... leds are very difficult to measure Par values and even their true power in Watts. I don't understand very well the power of the different leds colors and their effects on corals. What I can measure its what I see with my experience on my reef tank, and its very difficult for some corals, even for sps to acclimate well when the white channel its on 100% even with the kessil being 7" from the water.

I recently visited a friend of mine with 2 Vertex ilumina on a big SPS tank, and he stated the same kind of experience with the whites. He changed from T5 to LEDs and he had to turn them down to 40 or 50% because almost all the SPS were burning the tips or with a bad coloration. After that change, every sps are now with great coloration.

Any of you guys with Kessils notice this on your tanks?

Marco,
That's interesting and what I wanted to hear. I have not ran LED's as of yet. Would you compare the power of the A350 to a 250 watt metal halide?
Thank you

With the kessil white and blue channel at 100% yes..., for sure!

With 100% blue and 50% white:
Humm... visually no!!... but in power and sps response its for sure more powerfull then an 250W halide.

Please read this article, it will help you and maybe have some responses to some of your questions. It ha a lot of good info regarding leds and light on a reef tank.

Need some advice. I currently have two 150w Ocean Blues on my 75g (48x18x21) and would like to get a 3rd light in the center. Would you guys recommend a 350W or should I just save the extra cash and get another 150w but the sky blue 10k to bring out some more white in the tank since its a 75g? Figured I can use timers to set dawn/day/dawn effects with three lights.

Here's a pic of the tank now

Get an A350.

It is not much more and you get a more powerful light which you can adjust the color on to your liking.

I hate how the A150's are not adjustable.

Does anybody know if Kessil will be coming out with an adjustable A150?

I'd go for the A350w instead of another A150w. The difference in price is 30% between the A350 and A150, the difference in power is 300% though. Not to mention the ability to switch the spectrum at will with the knobs for blue / white on the A350.

Pretty sure they will not have an adjustable A150Ws. By the time they added that feature, it would probably cost the same as an A350W.

24 inches above water surface my tank is 24 inches deep and they provide a hanging clip or you can purchase a arm

Holy guacamole!!!! 24" above the water? Don't you get a ton of light spillage from the tank? And are you actually growing corals in the tank at that distance?

Do you have any pics of your arrangement?

Cheers!
John

I am also wondering the answer to this very question, would you guys recommend the wide or regular ones, and how far of the surface of water? i was hopeing to use only 3 on this dimension tank. My tank will be only 24 high tho:spin2:

As Frick said it really can only do a U and it is not all that long. It does not allow for much height over the water. Althought it does give a very clean look.

I have 32 X 20 X 24 tank, with mostly LPS, few sps, and an anemone. Which model and how many of them is needed to cover from edge to edge? Thanks.
