Kessil Club

This is mine. 360WE x 3 and Evergrow Nova6 x 2. Love the blue from the Evergrow with day light from the kessils.

Adding to this. Have had the 150s, 160s, 350s, and 360s. Just absolutely love these lights! Compared to what the other big brands charge these are a steal at what they go for.

i chose to go with 2 brand new a350ws for what i wouldve found 2 used ai sol blues priced at. I really wanted growth over bells and whistles. like lightning and clouds etc. They arrived today! I hope im not disappointed.

I have a 29 gallon cardiff bullet tank with some soft corals and mushrooms. They seem to love my two A150s that I run. I run the Sky Blue for appx. 12 hours a day and the Deep Ocean Blue Actinic about 6 hours a day. Love the shimmer effect. I think the Deep Blue may have been a tad too much blue but I bought it already and I'm not about to replace it just because.

Word to the wise however, I'd probably recommend going Ocean Blue instead of Deep Ocean Blue if you're looking for a blue light to companion with the Sky Blue (which is terrific for a white light). I tend to run my tank on a bit of a budget and am not looking to buy 1 of everything (at least yet), hence my frugal tip.

will do . i upgraded recently from a 28g nano with a chinese led to a 75 gallon with 2 kessils. im pumped that i have so much more real estate to play with, and the better lights are gonna add to the fun.

I ended up going with the 360W vs the 160 for a couple of reasons.

  1. The wife was okay with the extra spend
  2. Our plan is to get a bigger apartment or purchase a house in under 2 years so these will transition to the 120 or larger tank

I am in the process of moving to a drilled 40 breeder but to properly acclimate the corals I put the kessils them on my current 37.

(I know moving from a 37 to a 40 breeder isn't a big upgrade but to redo the carpet I have to break the tank down, I don't have room for a larger tank, and having a drilled tank is giving me piece of mind in an apartment - my 2 year old threw a small ball in the overflow that almost clogged it and my snails are getting bigger and end up in the overflow all the time.

I already love these vs the AI Hydra i was running. The blue brings out the colors in my corals and the shimmer reminds me of when I was on the beach in Jamaica last year....

(I just unsubscribed for the AI Hydra thread)

I just set up my brand new Kessil 160WE with spectral controller on a 44 gallon pentagon tank. I have a few softies. I really love how now I can actually see true colors pop out and the shimmering effect. My only complaint is the owner's manual is not very clear in my opinion as far as setting up the acclimation mode. I couldn't even find a good youtube video to help me out so I just set it up with "quickset".

I'm in, ordered my 360WE yesterday! Will be going over my daughter's 24x20x20 cube.

Good luck and cool username, where in Jamaica are you? I'm originally from Montego Bay and I was back there last summer. Didn't get a chance to go out on one of the coral reef tours :)

I have a Kessil A360WE on my 18in square 25 gal nano. These lights are super bright and I tend to roast any corals. Newbie saltwater guy here learning as I go.

You are going to have to acclimate the corals to the light. Do you have the controller? I believe it has an acclimation mode.

Hey friends,
Here is my re-set up of my IM Nuvo 16 gal. I have had it running now about a month and a half. I have 2 snowflake clowns and a small torch coral in it, but that's it for now. Taking things slow. Only bad things happen fast in a reef. So far, I LOVE my Kessil. I'm using the Kessil controller as well. It makes things really easy. :o

Over the past year I've had zero growth with my LPS, ok growth with SPS, and softies have had little growth (lights were at 40% intensity). The water flow is looking good and the water parameter are dead on (nitrates were a little to low). So I'm thinking its a light issue-ya, I know softies shouldn't need much light. I've had good growth with phoenix 14k 250de's before I switched. Supposedly the a350w at 100% is close to a 250 mh with a good ballast and reflector. Plus, I like the look of my tank better with more light. After a decade of mixed tank reefing I'm changing the tank to a softie/lps tank and no more colorful sticks. I have a new skimmer on order and I'm going to start feeding the corals. The wife and kids wanted more coral movement in the tank so I'm happy to oblige ;)

I have the controller now. I don't have any corals yet, but I have kessil set at 25 max intensity for several hours then ramps back down. I'd like to let my tank mature some more before trying corals again. Well my coralline algae could be considered a coral.

Set up my a350ws 5 days ago. They look awesome. I thought they would be ridiculously bright though. could be that they are on the 90 degree adapter and 8 inches above the water. but either way they are sweet. corals seem to be loving them as well. cant wait to post some growth pics down the road. shimmer effect is great.

Try increasing the intensity to 80% or switch to halide completely and let us know

I ditched my hood and went topless so I don't want to put back up the MH. The Kessil should have more than enough juice to work. I started feeding the corals this week and the new skimmer arrives Tuesday. I'll run this for the next month or two and see how things go.
