A better pic of the Kessil hybrid

Hey guys, so I'm looking to supplement my ATI 6x24 Dimmable over my 36" SPS dominant tank. Granted, my aquascape fits within the light fixture itself, I'd like to add some Kessils on the sides of the ATI Fixture, tilted inwards.

Now I wouldn't mind this having positive effects over my corals such as: better coloration, better/various light sources, better growth, etc.. Obviously haha.

But what would be a great fixture? I was looking at two Kessil 150 15k, just to give a nice pop.. Though would I have much benefit from my SPS from them? I'm also looking because you can get them quite cheap, used.

Or should I go for something a little nicer, Kessil 160? Or maybe even the Kessil 360's? I have an Apex controller as well that will be controlling these lights whether it be on/off for 150 or ramp up/down for the newer models.

Not sure you would get much from anything other then the 350w or 360w. And even adding those what you would get is some shimmer with the T5's on and nice pop when T5's are off. I do believe the sps will color up and do well with the added Kesssil as I have first hand experience adding just one 350 over a tank that i had a 8 bulb sunpower over. The sps it was hitting colored up and grew nicer then the ones it wasn't hitting. Just my two cents. Goodluck

I mounted 360we onto my 48" dimmable sunpower above my frag tank. Working great so far

I have PAR issues. The AP700 killed most of my coral after switching from a 6 bulb T5 fixture.... Can anyone tell me what the heck % intensity / color spectrums etc you are running if you are running an SPS dominated tank? They said one was good for a 48" tank... I'm doubting that now... I tried around 40% but my zoanthids were reaching for light pretty heavily and I upped it more. Now I regret that... most my SPS is gone. I'm thinking about dusting the T5 fixture off again. Really need some feedback on the AP700.... I don't have fancy par meters or pur meters or whatever everyone is ranting about. 120 Gallon mixed reef 24 x 24 x 48....

Hello
I'm a rookie at this, but here's our new set up

Sorry for your loss. I do not have experience with the Ap700 but with any led you must go slow especially Kessil since par meters don't read them well. What percent did you start them at?

I got the AP700 and started at 30% and now worked up to 40% after 2 months. I am using mainly the blue ends of the spectrum. All seems well here. Light is 10 inches AWL.

Got lucky and my LFS let me borrow a brand new Kessil 360 to test out and see if I like it. He said he'll order the other now because I'll probably want it lol. Excited to try this thing out!

40b- 2 a160we?

40b- 2 a160we?

I have a 40b, with mainly lps, a couple sps frag up high. I currently have 1 a160we. I know I have to add another light, but am wondering if I am wasting my money on another 160we. Will I ever be able to grow acropora, if I choose a 2nd a160we? I have a birds nest, and a psamacora that seem to be doing well directly under the light. I only have coral on the lit side of the tank for now and plan to expand to the other side once I get my second light.. Would I be better suited to just add an a360we?

If you are only going to house easy low light acros then just add another 160 if you plan on catching the acro bug.....lol buy a 360 and use the 160 and the 360 until you need to use another 360 when you get ALOT OF ACROS.

I'm thinking that's solid advise.. Thanks brotha!

Who is "they" I have an AP700 and it's not enough coverage for a SPS 4 foot tank. You have to raise it so high to get coverage that you'll lose a lot of par. If you had low light corals at the edges I could see it working.

I'm going to be using a single AP700 for my 4 foot tank but I'll start with a 2 bulb fixture T5 and probably add another 2 bulbs.

40% is probably a good starting point. Maybe even less. I started at around 35% with my A360 and ramped it up to gradually to 60% over around a 14 day period. It's now at 75%. I wouldn't worry about stretching during this period unless they are actually dying from too little light. Sounds like you may have damaged the SPS with too much light.

I would get a cheap PAR meter such as the Seneye Reef. It seems fairly accurate to me. You should not have a problem affording a PAR meter under $200 if you can buy an AP700.
