Kessil Club

Im running a brs duo with gfo and carbon 24/7, phosphates are o, I ran my tanks for years with nitrates under 10 and Ive only let my nitrates bump up to 30-40 because Im no longer doing sticks. My lfs used Red Sea, elos, and salifert for testing. I've been in this hobby over a decade and I'm stumped.

I just switched to Kessils on my 40. Am running 2 160's. My old tank which was a 20 was up for between a year to a year and a half I can't remember. I've always had a problem where some corals grown like crazy and some don't do a thing. I got my live rock from LFS. A few months in, I had a small coral that popped up from nothing on a rock. I originally thought it was apistasia but decided to just let it ride. ( it ended up being a kenya tree). Since it first popped outta that rock until yesterday, it went from nothing to being like 5 inches tall, and has fragged itself at least 20 times. I've also got some mushrooms which are simple enough that haven't grown, split or anything in the last year and half. They open and seem happy but they don't do anything else.
 
Mixed emotions here... I've decided on the Radions. More expensive for sure, but two of the XR30's will provide a total (max) of 340 watts... Enough for my next tank upgrade after I outgrow the new 90g!
 
I know its preference usually on color, but with my highest intensity now being at 75% was seeing what others do for color within that intensity or higher range. Wondering if anyone stays more blue? Currently I am at 70% color at the brightest, of course on a ramp up/down and was looking at going to a lower color than I currently have, keeping intensity the same. I have a mixed reef.

I use that same setup but my color doesn't go higher than 50-60%. I can't remember.
 
Currently I am running a 2 250 watt MH 4 T5 fixture. Tank is a 48 x 24 x24 120 gallon oceanic tech with euro bracing.

I am thinking about finally switching to LED specifically the Kessil A360we.
The plan would be to make a floating/hanging fixture with Kessil and T5 retrofit.

Do you think two Kessil a360we placed were the current MH along with a 4 bulb T5 retrofit would be sufecent for mixed reef with SPS? Or would I need 3? Should I be looking at a360n instead?

I think you should be fine with the T5 retrofit + 2 Kessils

Use the we. With the narrow you would need 3-4.

Has anyone mounted the a360WE outside of a canopy? The Canopy is 10-12" so i think I'd need them outside the canopy. Thoughts? Tank is a standard 240 (8'x2'x2')
 
I'm thinking about adding a (2)48" bulbs to help with the coloring and growth. I may try the good old odyssea t5 two bulb with an ATI coral plus and a blue plus. Am I smokin crack for wanting to try this?

That's the same route I was going to do. But I was also thinking of putting BML to make the 6700 Iwasaki strip and add them and use the atinics for dusk and dawn effect.
