I think one àp 700 or two kessils would be fine you would probably have more options with the 700 but I like the look of the 360s better

Pardon for butting in guys,. But I have a quick question, and hoping its not going to be a major problem in my tank.

So the paint on the gooseneck base paint are already stripped up to where the waterline is (submerged part), and now the metal is already exposed. I'm guessing its aluminum?

I've read mixed things about it, but anyone in here have long term experience with their gooseneck base in the water? Any dangers that I need to be aware of?

Thanks,
Jasper

Good question, I am newer to kessils so my paint still there however I can tell you that salt and aluminum don't mix well.

Yeah I know, I just realized it last night when I was wiping off some salts creeps on top off my tank., I figure ask here first before I call the manufacturer, or creating a separate thread in the forum. I'm sure there are tons of people here that run into our situation.

^^^ Quoting my post so it goes to this page. (I won't do this on every page, I will only do this one time. LOL)

This my new 48x20x20 that I'm having a hard time choosing the lighting. I am a Kessil also, My plans is a mixed reef tank. Choices

1) AP700 only problem is I'd need more then one or have to add T5's
2) 2x 360's but would still have to add more light (4x 48" T5's)
3) 4x 160we's would have to divide tank in 4's, each light would have to cover a 24x15" area.
OR
I can split the 4 160's and add 2x 48" T5's down the middle.

Help me with this please:facepalm::facepalm:

Correction Tank is 48x30x20

I honestly think that one AP700 will adequately light this tank. You may not keep SPS on the bottom but insure you can keep them with in the majority of that space. It has the power, keep your water clear and run good carbon.

Would 3 A360s not be sufficient?

You would have to hang the light really high to get the 24x24" coverage you need per pendant, otherwise you will have a lot of dark spots on the edges and in between the lights. I'm doing 3 a360we on a 72", but it's only 18" deep so I can hang them high and still get plenty of light at the bottom. If you're using 360's, not the the 360we's then i'd think you'd want to use 4, or the 2 a700s

Thank you. I should have specified I was planning to use the 360WEs.

If that's the case I might have to reconsider using Hydra 26 HDs instead. Or wait to see if I can catch a break on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

You can usually find good deals in the buy/sell forum here. I picked up 3 of the 360we's brand new for $975
