Thank you, Thor. What was the intensity on the 360's?

Those pictures look truly night and day. If it wasn't obvious from my first post I really wanted to go with the 360's. But your pictures really have me second guessing.

Don't go with my pictures. They aren't close to the same settings. I was just providing what they looked like on the tank. I do have new sq520 apogee light meter. I had to run 360s at 65% to get same as 700 at 35%. The 700s penetrate much further down.

Forgive me, as I've done a lengthy search and am still quite confused. I run the older A350 over a 30 gallon shallow cube aio. Is the spectral controller compatible with the older A350, or do I need to upgrade to the A360E? Every site I check states the controller works with all A series but I see so many stating the 350 is only manual knob adjustable. Thanks

Do the lights have sockets for the wires to plug into?

Iirc, the older A series are not controllable by the spectral controller.

I think they mean all 'current' A series

I had to have an array replaced. I sent an email and explained what was happening. So the guy asked if I minded replacing the component and since I've got an a+ cert it was pretty much straight forward.

anyone here run their 360 at the end of their t5 or in a canopy/hybrid inside with t5? will it cause any heat issue to the kessil? i have mine on the end of my t5 and the t5 really heat up my kessil

Oh, but I do.....

Simply Wow! I was going to call out for some advice from everyone that is running ap700 upgraded from the 360we. But your pictures may have answered my question.

Anyway, I'm setting up a Red Sea reefer 350 and I'm going back and forth between running 2 kessil 360we (eventually 3 if necessary) or 1 ap700. Livestock will be LPS dominant but am eventually opened to more of a mix reef with sps if tank parameters allow.

What do you guys think?

Definitely the ap700

I have a single AP700 on my 425XL (same length) and it's awesome. Coverage is not a problem at all. I only run it at 60% for 4 hours a day, otherwise it ramps to/from 20% over a total of 12 hours -- and that's with the slight diffusion kit on it! The light is insanely powerful. It's perfect for a mixed reef. If you were doing a full SPS tank you'd probably want 2.

That's what I keep hearing. Is it pushing borderline overkill powerful? For the price, I can get 3 360we (used). Would 3 360we's be enough coverage and power?

15" per 360 is my rule of thumb. Big difference in 360 vs 700 is the PAR at the bottom.

I don't think it's overkill. I like not having to run the fixture at 100%. Gives me room for change if I need it and is efficient in the meantime!

The fixture is specifically made to cover a 4' tank.

I've been running a A350w for two years and will be upgrading to a A360we this weekend. I run the A350w at 60-65% for 10 hours over and LPS tank. Will I need to acclimate the corals to the new Kessil?

I had a feeling but have seen, as with every other product, people bashing them

People can bash all they want. There is more to healthy coral growth than just lights. I've posted some of my growth shots in this thread before. I've got 10 of them over my 480G 4x8x2' tall tank and my corals (SPS included) grow like weeds and I have no supplemental lighting either. The tank did fine with 8 of them too before I added more to get some more coverage on the back side of the peninsula. The Kessils grow SPS just fine! Rest assured!

Lots of pictures here and notice the subject of that thread.
