Thats a Nissan 350Z and the amount of damage to the truck is unreal. Pushed it up on the curb and into the car that was parked behind it. Snapped the steering. Bent the whole front axle and bumper and twisted the chassis. Plus whatever else i dont see. Then the darwin candidate walks home. Police found him he wasnt drunk or anything just dumb and extremely lucky. I get a call last night from someone driving up the block saying "dude someone hit your truck you should come down here" Small car, big truck and a lucky dumb driver. We guesstimated the impact at atleast 60 MPH and the speed limit on the block is 30 MPH............

Wow funny I had a similar thing happen to my old work truck. It was a F-350, parked like yours. It got clipped on the left rear by a Taurus (I know, ford on ford violence, hard to have sympathy for either victim) in a 25 mph zone. Bent the rear axel, frame mounts, shattered the rear leaf spring, bent the wheel all the heck...6K damage total to the truck. The car spun when it hit and actually secondarily impacted the side of the truck. The front end of the Taurus was pretty wasted but certainly fixable. The guy was buzzed but apparently not over the limit....turns out he had no insurance so companies insurance wound up taking the hit.

Since you are in towing though, I am sure you have seen it before...the hammer usually pounds the nail pretty good, even if its a small vehicle that does the hitting.

Sure nice of your guy to try and find you to explain the whole mess though......freaking idiot.

sorry to hear Chris, at least it wasn't hit and run and the guy hopefully has insurance. I have seen some real bad accidents over the years in which parked vehicles even large trucks took a beaten from moving cars..there is alot to factor in why that is.

Its not my truck. I only drive it. The guys car is insured and hes licensed. He panicked and didnt know what to do so he says. It wasnt even his car but a friend of his. He is an employee of a country club my boss is a member of so they probably know each other. Small world...... Unfortunately it relates to me by losing some money now that we only have 1 functional truck. The plus side of that is actually having a weekend off! :)

Is it me or does anyone else find it ironic that the truck that tows cars that have been in accidents...needs a tow.

:)

Glad no one was hurt :)

You would be surprised how often tow trucks get towed ;)
Having worked in that industry, and sat in a broken down tow truck more times than I can count waiting for a tow, I can say for sure that it happens.
Worst part is, when a tow truck is down, the remaining trucks on the road have to cover all the work without that one, and it's usually a VERY long time before a truck is free to pick it up. I waited almost 10 hours once, in a not so good part of Far Rockaway, just because it was a busy day.

Chris don't forget that Nissan is metal and that truck is plastic, well fiberglass which is still plastic. It rips and looks worse than metal which just crinkles.
At least you weren't in it.
Paul

Larry fortunately none of them have broke down on me. If i had to wait 10 hours id leave the truck and find an alternative way home!
Paul i know the whole hood/fender is fiberglass but the amount of solid metal he bent is crazy. We think the chassis of the truck is twisted.
Christine it is very ironic but it does happen. I had to tow the flatbed from infront of my house one day cause it wouldnt start. That was a pretty funny site and my neighbors seemed to find the humor in it and let me know :)
Liana-- you need a bigger car LOL

2 more pics from the night it happened. The car behind the truck had most of the damage prior to being hit again.
