Kit TS07 for a 75 gal FOWLR?

Hi Roger,

Been reading a lot of the threads in this forum and on RC in general. Seems like a lot of positive things to say about Tunze products in general so I am considering your products for my new aquarium (in the planning stages).

I apologize if you have already addressed my questions in other threads but I'd like to get a first hand response so that I make the proper decisions and, ultimately, purchase.

I am planning on setting up a 75 gallon AGA Megaflow FOWLR tank, with the potential to upgrade to reef in the future. I am very interested in simplicity and aesthetics, so I am trying to avoid unsightly powerheads. In addition, I would like to avoid the complication of plumbing a closed loop.

Would a Kit TS07 (Turbelle Stream and Single Controller 7091) be appropriate for this tank? Does this system provide adjustable flow? Will it eliminate dead spots?

Also, I like to put the Stream in the Deco rock rather than hang it on the tank (for aesthetics). Am I correct in assuming that this will hide all but the power cord (which I could probably manage to blend into the black background through a conduit)?

Appreciate your time and repsonse.

Thanks.

I think all your assumptions are correct, you can control the flow, the rock hides all but the cord and the outlet of the pump. The pump set should work well in that size tank provided the rock structure is light and free of any peninsulas that would obstruct the output. Keep in mind the diffuse flow does not have much pressure so obstacles can substantially alter flow effectiveness. I doubt a conduit will be necessary and for that matter with the right structure no Stream Rock would be necessary. You could start the rock work in the center on the right side and pile high and then curve towards the back and go short, pile high around the overflow and maybe form an arch on the left. You could hide the Stream in the pocket between the back wall and the rock on the right and aim the pump to the opposite front corner. No rock needed and from the front the pump is pretty much invisible. The key is to keep it easy to service the pump.

Roger,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I really appreciate your suggestions on rockscaping the tank (and in saving me money on not using the Deco rock!). Your ideas sound excellent and I will probably proceed along that basis for the rock layout and "hiding" the pump.

It's really refreshing to get advice from a sponsor who has a true interest in what's best for the hobbyist and not just an interest in selling more products!

Thanks again.

John
