Whats everyone think about kleins. Been thinking about adding a copperband but after a quick talk with Tom today he recommended a Kleins. I have always heard bad things. Whats everyone's take on them

I've never personally added one but I saw someone else do it. After watching that thing nail acan, chalice and acro in that tank... I'd only suggest trying one if you were comfortable with having to quickly remove it should the need arise.

I had an aptasia population that was out of control in Ayla's 46 bow. I tried juice, pepps, nudis, and 3 cbbs. none of them did the job. G recommended the terminator. 119 seconds after no acclimation whatsoever, he was chowing down. Probably 100 gone within a week. No real issues since. I have noticed my shrooms have kinda wilted and become detached, but I can't say as I've seen the Klein go after anything except every bit of food I throw in....

So sounds like the general consensus is only add if your ready to grab and I am not so looks like its time to try a copperband. I just know they have a terrible survival rate. Luckily I do have access to tons of pods so keeping the population up isnt a big thing

Kleins are great for getting rid of aptasia but like other butterfly fish their is a 50/50 chance that this type of fish can go after your coral. I would sujest that you throw in a lot of tiggerpods in your tank and a good algea sheet if and when you get your Klein butterfly to have it graze on that rather than your coral. Good Luck!!!

best bets:

Asfur, Emperor, Majestic, 6-bar, Regal + Centropyge and Genicanthus spp.

I don't like (or use) the term "reef safe" :)

how much ya figure rental rates should be?

Looks like he is sampling your cap coral If you had to go get another fish to deal with aptaisia what would it be another kleins?

in that pic the Butterfly is actually 10" in front of the Montipora

retrospective:
Klein's was the best Aiptasia destroyer I've ever used but it needs to be fed well in order to keep it from pestering desirable inverts.

CBB is much better looking IMO

Well Gary your starting make me lean towards the kleins if it eats all my corals can I come over and restock out of yours haha
