Kole Tang...My first DD purchase.

Now that he is in the DT I can shoot some better pictures. Hopefully I will be able to photo chronicle the healing/reversal of his HLLE...

It looks like he may be making a little progress with the HLLE. The spots under his eyes look a little less distinct.

that's great, ellis!! i wish i could get better pics of mine. neither one of my cameras is very good. he won't stop wiggling long enough to get a clear shot!

i noticed a tiny spot on the side of his face today. i'm soaking his food in garlic and feeding lots of formula 2 and mysis. trying to stay away from brine shrimp till i get him completely healthy. i expect my copper to be here tuesday and since i'm staying home that day, i'll start treatment as soon as it gets here.

Thanks Nina. What kind of tiny spot? Does it look like Ich or are you concerned about HLLE?

no, it doesn't look like ich. in fact, the ich hasn't spread at all, he just still has the 3 spots. the other spot is on his "cheek", just below his eye. yes, i'm concerned about HLLE. it's really hard to get a good look at it because this fish is NEVER still! obviously, there's no way i can put him in my dt so i am just offering him the best food i can.

never a dull moment in this hobby!

Definitely never a dull moment. Everything I read said to try to keep water quality as consistent and good as you can and their diet as good a varied as you can. If you have Selcon I would start soaking all his food in it.

It sucks watching something go wrong with an otherwise perfectly healthy fish...especially something that so little is known about like HLLE.

i've been doing daily small water changes and testing the water every day. he loves the formula 2 and mysis and he's eating like a champ. i'll have to see if my lfs carries selcon.

yup, it can be frustrating and it's especially so since pretty much everything i get has to be mail ordered. this has delayed the treatment for way too long to suit me but i don't have any other choices. i would KILL for a good lfs that wasn't 100 miles away!

can't wait to see him in your dt!!

every single one of my fish go crazy for the formula 2. it's hilarious to watch them because the hawkfish will grab a chunk of frozen that's way too big for them and they'll race away to hide so the other fish can't steal it. i've seen my mccosker's wrasse swim right up to one of the clownfish and grab it right out of its mouth.

He has quickly become my favorite fish in my tank. He has a lot more personality than I thought he would. There is just something about the way a Tang swims...

The HLLE has continued to improve. As you can see in the pictures below it is almost completely gone under is left eye and has faded dramatically under his right.

Thanks. His difference in coloration between the QT and my DT is pretty dramatic. I can really see it in the yellow of his fins.

Kole tangs are fun fish. Everyone is settled in now and he isn't shy any more. In QT he would hide in his cave whenever he saw any movement but now he is out and showing off.

These guys are fast. He does figure 8s in my 90g, often taking shortcuts through caves I have in my rocks. I fed some Formula 2 and he went nuts chasing it all around the tank.

Stan is a welcome addition to our reef.

They really are awesome. It is amazing how much more active they are in the DT. I can't believe how fast he is! I think the only fish in my tank that is faster is my Carpenter's Wrasse. That guy is a missile.

you guys are making my waiting almost intolerable!! did my second dose of cupramine today so now it's just wait and see. i will be SO happy when i can get this tang into my dt!!!

Good things come to those who wait Nina. How is he looking? Any progress on your Ich or HLLE concerns?

the ich spots are still there but i would imagine it'll take the cupramine a while to work. as for the spot on his cheek, it's completely gone. yay! i think it might have been a little scrape he got from jetting around the tank. i had one piece of live rock in there but have taken that out and replaced it with more pvc.

he's eating everything i give him and begging for more.

i have never had to use copper treatment before. how long before the ich spots are no longer visible? i know that doesn't mean he's cured but i'm just wondering how long before i don't actually see it.
