Had my Kole Tang for a month...won't give the sea veggies I put on a clip a look. Eats mysis and brine like a fiend...Any thoughts?

your kole tang and my kole tang musta come from the same litter. LOL

the only *veggie* mine cares for are the new era feeding rings. i have tried all kinds of nori and he just swims right on by it. mine also loves mysis and brine.

It's sometimes hard to get fish to eat nori from a clip. Best way is to have established fish show 'em the ropes, but even that doesn't always work.

You might want to try cutting the nori into small 1/8" x 1/8" pieces first. Soak them in some water for a few minutes to soften them up a little and then pour it in. Your basically just feeding the Nori the same way you would flake food. GL.

Mine just scrapes the rocks and back tank wall. he also eats the nori that is mixed into my diy frozen but has never eaten the stuff I rubberbanded to the rocks for him.

I got my Chevron to eat nori by cutting the large sheets into 2x3" rectangles, then cutting slits into the strip, but not all the way thru, so that the current in the tank makes it look like they're individual "fingers" waving in the water, and he's taken them ever since. As a large 2x3" piece, he doesn't care for em.

i rubber banded it to rocks, to pvc...no dice. heck, i even borrowed a female from the lfs, rubber banded some nori to her tail and dropped her in. he STILL ignored it. go figure!

j/k. i didn't really do that. not that i wasn't tempted...

Leave a corner of the glass alone for algae to grow. Any corner or side not really seen and he or she will thank you for it. I had one and while he also ate nori that trick gave him a constant source of natural food much like what he found on the rocks.

My Kole eats everything. I stopped the clip years ago. Do what Cloak says, works great and less trouble. My Kole is 15 years old.

Great idea, I'm gonna try this.
I have not been able to get my tangs to eat nori.

Mine eats everything, but needed another experienced tang to show it how to eat from the nori clip. Now he tries to fight off my purple and sailfin to get at it...

Seriously, if you haven't tried it yet, leave a section of the tank along and let it build up Algae. Best thing I've ever done.
