Hey guys, so I came across very small juvenile Koran About 1.5 inches I have a 30 gallon cube Parameters all perfect Excellent filtration, lots of live rock and hiding spots Caves Now I fully understand that a Koran should be houses in Atleast a 150 gallon give or take depending on the source your listening to, but I was speaking with a few experienced gentleman at the LFS And they said It's fine to keep him in a tank my size for a year - two And then find more suitable housing. He's been in for three days and is swimming fine, eating, and getting along great with my dottyback and Maroon clown (especially the clown). I would like to hear any thoughts on this situation. Here's a picture of my rimless tank It's under a kessil360w

I cant believe a fish store sold you a 200+ gallon fish and told you its ok in a 30g.

This fish grows over a foot.... Why not just buy an actual dwarf angel

nice reef cube u got there. they do grow quick like golden retreiver pup. time to save money for a bigger tank.

If it were me I would take it back so you can upgrade at your leisure and then buy your Koran from someone who deserves your business.

Even if he isn't stressed from the size he will eventually be. Also he will devour a reef. Mine loved zoas and sps. Didn't bother any lps like euphyllia but destroyed any thing else

if you plan on upgrading to a 6 footer for it then should be fine for a bit.
but i dont see where yoiu mentioned anything about upgrade plans..so why bother getting it at all?..i dont get it.

well the thing is I live literally next door to a huge reef store It's pretty easy to bring him back at ANY given time I'm a very frequent and known customer there, basically My question is Are Large angels are fine in small tank when they are still tiny ? That's all lol I would never keep it past a reasobable size for my tank. Thanks for input again

It will be fine going 100 feet away lol But anyways As for my original question, I suppose he'll be just fine for now right? Considering he's smaller than the flame angel and clownfish I have lol

He might be fine for a couple months... But Korans grow very large, very fast if properly fed and cared for. As someone else mentioned, not good reef dwellers. Might as well just take him back so he can go to a larger tank (hopefully :hmm5:).

From my experiences with Pomacanthus, especially Koran's, is they are among the worst in the genus at picking on inverts. I think the race is on with this fish and it will either; a) outgrow the tank quickly, or b) destroy everything in there. You have a very nice little tank there, I would find a new home for your angel while you still do.
