Kovy's 180G Reef

Hi geaux xman, I see you have a tank with similar dimensions.

If 12mm is 1/2", then yes Im pretty sure they'll be building it with 1/2" glass. I will check tomorrow, before I put in the order.

I've seen some 1/2" glass used on some 3-400g eurobraced tanks on the board, mostly DIY tanks.

Marineland 300g(72x36x27) DD uses 12mm glass, but I think they use eurobrace+ and additional 2 "center" braces.

I think most custom tank builders will use 3/4" glass for 26-30" tall tanks.

**Update!**

I got a higher tank quoted and it bumped up the price by almost half. The reasoning behind this is because the tank builder said anything taller than 24" and they would need to temper all the glass. Therefore, 60"x30"x24" it is!

New and FINAL tank design (More info on the sump soon):

Did you check with Charlie an the fish tank factory
Another option to build your tank it's cheaper and great customer service.

Remember this?

And the opposite side of the room, where the tank will be located: (Again, excuse the mess :worried2: All the boxes and junk will be removed).

Well, we did some cleaning in preparation for the tank. Next step is electrical. I will talk to the electrician but I think Im going to have a new 15a circuit run. More on that soon.

Ok so I did some more calculations, and I decided I want to build the stand taller.

There is 85" floor to celling.

The stand will now be 46" tall, the tank is 24" tall, which leaves us with a 15" canopy.

Careful, To reach the bottom for cleaning, mounting and picking things up you need to be able to get your whole shoulder into the tank. Make sure you're not going to box yourself out with your canopy design.

Ok everyone, two things:

1: Im about half way done building my stand, i'll post some pics tomorrow.

2: Im going to need some opinions. My plan up until this point was to light the tank with EcoTech Marine's Radion. But now that the AI Vega Color is set for retail in august, Im reconsidering my choice. So, you tell me, go with the Radions and start the tank up and running ASAP, or take my time and wait for the Vega to come out?
