Krill or Silversides?

I have a 9 inch (yes - the same one that was 8 inches 3 weeks ago!!!) Haddoni

I have been alternating silverside and PE mysis daily for food. I know he doesnt need that much but im trying to establish and get him really comfortable.

Is Krill better than SS for him? He'll eat anything... including hermet crabs and nassarius snails.

I have heard of anemones dying after eating silversides. I would stick with krill and mix it up with some PE mysis and squid.

Now when i asked the same question here about about my bouble tip.. They said a cut a piece of raw table shrimp.. not to big.. i soak mine in a bit of selcon about every other feeding. I dono about the carpet species.. But the guy i got my clone from feeds only silversides exclusivly(200+clones and going).. So to me unless there was a bad batch or sceintific proof that per species fed silversides.. I just dono about this sudden death.. Im just curious.. Not trying to step on toes or stir the pot so to speak.

Heck for all i know its the way there packaged or the thaw and unthawed processed..

I feed all of my S. Haddonis frozen (( thawed )) krill, have been doing it that way for years now - and I feed about once every month.

Not sure how to get you scientific proof -- since I am never going to risk an anemone with it again, but I know that around 9 PM my H. Malu was doing great. Around 9:05 PM I fed it a silverside, around 8 AM the next morning it was dead. And I am not the only person that had this happen too. If you look at the silversides you can see all the guts, so it is pretty easy to see how they could go bad. With so many better/cleaner foods out there, I don't see the need to take the risk.

In addition, back when I feed silversides my anemones would produce a waste ball after feeding them -- no longer have that issue with krill.

I've had much less experience with anemones than you, but I know that the BTA clone I tried keeping almost 3 years ago crashed and burned on a diet of silversides, and also produced a lot more waste. I now feed my current RBTA small pieces of thawed, rinsed krill or raw table shrimp, without issues. Like you, I've noticed that the nem produces very little waste on this diet--certainly nothing like what came out of my first BTA.

Like streak, I got my anemone from a propagator who feeds hers silversides (although not exclusively) all the time. She's been cloning and raising RBTAs for six years, so it obviously works for her. All the same though, after my experience and those of so many people on this forum, I'm not feeding my anemones silversides ever again. The evidence against feeding silversides may just be anecdotal, but I'd rather not gamble.

I also have given mine table shrimp or baby scallops. It also receives chunks of krill or whatever larger chunks that are in Rod's food when I feed the fish.

I threw out my silversides after my one of my anenome died after feeding it. Now I use just krill and table shrimp.

Im going to have to look into Frozen Krill then.. I guess ill have to order it.. becuse i have no way my lfs thats close i dont belive carries frozen krill. I would like to try varity. I still feed the Shrimp/mysis selcon i guess the stuff helps.. It Makes the fish grow like weeds.. The nem well he/she since it hosts a clown dosent hide in the rocks at night anymore.. darn clown sleeps in there..

Its pretty funny if so much as piece of flake food lands on the Nem there the clown goes and cleans it off there..

I used to feed my rbtas silversides, after loseing a couple I have since changed to mysis shrimp,I give a sqiurt with a baster twice a week.
