How does your Purple Tang get along with your Yellow. I have an established Yellow and he's one of the booses of the tank but I's love to add some more blue and was thing a Purple. But I'm worried teh YT will beat him to death although it's pretty mellow actually. My list has similarities to yours with 2 large angels, 2 dwarfs, 3 or 4 tangs, some Anthias.... It's not a huge list and I reckon your skimmer can handle it.

Is teh atlantic blue on the far right of that full tank shot?

The skimmer can handle it no question... but itll turn out some pretty gross skimate lol ;)

Old school book of John Tullock's (read when new to salt back in 2000) said if you want to do tangs, put 4-5 in a 6' tank that way it spreads out any aggression. I had the yellows and atlantic blue in my 125 since 2001 and in the 120 I set up in Sept. 2003, I had the purple, & regal/hippo. I think the key is to introduce tangs all at once if possible, which is what I did when I combined them.

nexdog,
The atlantic Blue is on the far right in full tank shot, got him in Jan. 2002, smaller than the yellows, and he grew larger than the yellows in a years time. Since atlantic & emp. were in separate tanks, I was surprised he was bigger than the Emperor. So far only aggression I see is some fighting b/w the yellows, & when the LED moonlights are on, the atlantic will chase the others a little, I think to establish territory before he picks his spot in the rocks. When full lights are on, he plays nice.

Side note, Bruce Carlson was at my house years ago when he spoke to our local club and showed me how to sex yellow tangs - males have a patch of Whiskers right in front of their white barb. [Kicks self in butt for not getting picture of myself and Bruce in front of tank.

I got Emperor around Christmas 2004 as a juv. along with Majestic

Deltec: rate for a Capacity: Normal Stocking: 530g
Heavy Stocking: 400g
I'm at a little less than 300 right now, will have over 300 when I get frag tank going, so should be okay on skimmer and been doing a 30g water change weekly.

alien9168- yes sure does smell in the back room. :smokin:

My yellowtail damsel was first salt fish I ever purchased and it's still alive and happy in new tank. Got it Oct. 2000.

Thanks for your comments - keep them flowing

Hey Craig

Nice set up! Is that the Atlantic Blue Tang in that last picture? Has if fully changed color yet? How about posting some pictures of your Potter Angel and some more of the Lyretail and other Anthias.

Thanks,
Raymond

I have had the atlantic blue tang since 2002. Fully changed to adult - including teeth :D ABT's grow fast and it's my largest fish. Almost all of the fish in the tank are out in the photos below. Tried to get some coral shots, but need to play with white balance and break out tripod - those taken didn't look very good. Same Idol that I have had since Jan. 20ish 2006 (earlier post). So far only coral it picks on is green fingure leather.

Will try more coral shots soon of robz dc tort, ora tort and a superman

How nice is the blue on the Atlantic Blue Tang? It's hard to tell from pictures.

How long have you had the Emp Angel for? Do you recommend it for a reef tank that has softies and LPS?

Thanks for posting the updated pics.

Raymond

1) Blue on ABT looks better than the last photo - a bit hard to get solo shot because it's almost always moving in the tank.
2) I've had the emperor since Dec. 2003 - got as juv. from LFS. a little over a year later it was morphing into adult colors.
3) Reef safe? - well most angels are hit or miss; mine did pick at a open brain - which is to be expected. Never touched xenia; doesn't seem to touch frogspawn, leathers, or elegance; nor any sps. So far never picked at a clam. Same for majestic & all 3 dwarfs.

I do try to put 2 sheets of nori in tank each day for 6 days straight /week, then give them 1 day off with no nori fed. Also fee pellets and frozen almost every day;

I am thinking about trying a Juv. Emp one day. I do have an open brain in my tank though.

When you say 2 sheets, how big are these sheets? And is there a meaning to the 1 day off on nori? Was this something you were told that you should do, or you just like to tease your fish?:p
