L.A. in wall 800 gallon system!

I am truly crazy about the hobby... Sometimes I feel like an addict! I have become engulfed in looking for beautiful corals!

What I meant was a future frag of you and your wife ( baby)

Also I will be in your area tomorrow night
Maybe I can stop by and check it out.

Great News...I'm gonna be a Father!

Here a couple of pictures of my new ASM 160 watt UV sterilizer! This thing looks like a torpedo and is bigger than one!
I am going to install it outside where my closed loop pump is sitting and plumb it into the closed loop system!

Good luck with the achilles
It might break some ick in the main tank but it's normal since you have ick in the main tank mine have ick few minutes after introducing to the main tank and it hasnt disappear yet.
The large UV sterilizer should help with that but not a cure.

You can plumb the sterilizer to one of the drain with a ball valve to control the flow the slower the flow the better and it will save you wattages too.

Can't wait to see it in person.

Congrats George on the baby... And yes that UV sterilizer is HUGE! Cant wait to see the improvements on the tank next month.

Hey George.

I have the ASM 80. Mine is inline to my remote sump on a very slow flow rate.

Make sure you plumb it so you can easily slide the bulbs out. And also so you can slide out the Quartz sleeves. They need to be vinegar bathed every 4-6 months. And they are very very delicate, so you need plenty of room to slide them straight in.

Also if you are using a controller (like an Apex) to run your system, put the UV on it and shut it down if the temperature gets too warm in your system. The UV acts like an inline heater. Most people who have the ability forget to include the UV in their equipment list of things that can be shut down when the temperature goes up.

WOW Lawrence, your reef tank looks breath taking! I really do see the clearness of the water. Great job on your rock work and coral! What method do you use to dose ozone and what brand of equipment did you purchase? What brand should I be looking for for the ozone reactor /generator /orp meter/etc.

What do you guys think?

Dave can explained it so much better than me

Thanks so much for the heads up with the UV sterilizer, I installed it outside where the closed loop pumps are so there is enough room to move the lights.
Thanks for chiming in about UV sterilizer because I couldn't find anything about it online!

I'm getting rid of the 1/2 HP tradewinds chiller I was using because I bought it used and it feels like it can't keep up with the system...I'm pushing close to a thousand gallons now!

Here is the old chiller...

I bought the old chiller used...but I'm not impressed because it's having a hard time keeping up. Probably has to do with age and size.

Here are some pictures of the brand new chiller. It is a tradewinds 1HP 220volt chiller rated for 1,000 gallons. If anyone has any useful tips on how to plumb the new one in to make it more efficient...i'm all ears!

Are you sure water is going to flow through the UV with that IN/Out configuration.

Looks like once filled with water, the water could actually stagnate.

There also doesn't seem to be a means of monitoring the flow to the UV.
