Would one of each of the following large angel families get a long in a FOWLR tank..210g or 200g or 175g bow (not sure which tank) tank mates will possibley be tang(s), drawf angel(s) and wrasse(s)

Pomacanthus Asfur OR Maculous
Genicanthus Bellus (f) OR Swallowtail (f)
Holocanthus Queen OR Alantic Blue
Chaetodontoplus Personifer OR Scribbled
Which ones should be smallest on whick one should be largest as they will go in at the same time

Are you looking to add in four total? The queen/blue will get the biggest and be most aggressive, add that angel last. It will definitely out grow any tank you've listed. If your adding four angels at once, I wouldn't recommend it due to the massive bioload you'd add, it would shock your tank and you could lose the fish.

I love Angel threads :D .... so here we go:

There are two approaches to this:
(1) You should only keep one angelfish species per tank
Or
(2) Angelfish communites are ok.

We'll go on the latter ;) (first)

Buying juv. fish, the bigger ones are going to put on 2-3" per year, on average...... Personally, in a 6' tank, I wold not like to see anything bigger than 8-10" ..... so, in answer to your question if they'll outgrow your tank, well pomocanthus might, eventually, and the holocanthus will also. Starting out with a 2-3" fish: end of yr1 - 5-6", end of year 2 - 6-8", end of year 3 - 8-9", end of yr 4 - 9-10"......so, I reckon based on either a pomocanthus or holocanthus angel, you should get a good 3-4yrs, then you'll need to upgrade or move on the fish......

If you opted for a single angel, you'd probably push that out for another year or two....... but we are talknig communites.... so it realistically reels it in by about a year......

So - long term feasibility - I would say if you start with juv. fish, then you'll have about 3 yrs of relatively smooth running, afterwhich things are going to get a bit tight..... assuming you don; go nuts with too many tangs.

Size and aggression correlate fairly well here:
Genicanthus Bellus (f) OR Swallowtail (f) - smallest / least aggressive.
Chaetodontoplus Personifer OR Scribbled
Pomocanthus
Holocanthus

I would introduce them in two batches - getting small fish..... first lot about 3", then a month or so later the pomocanthus and holocanthus - better to get them with a slight size difference - probably get a 2-3" holocanthus and a solid 3" pomocanthus.

My personal choices - first two - doesn;t really matter, the pomocanthus - go withthe emporer, because the mac is too similar in shape to the holocanthus...... holocanthus - queen, hands down (ciliaris)......

Perosnally, if I were doing this tank, I would ask myself if I would ever be able to upgrade my tank - if not, or if in doubt, I would let out the holocanthus, and instead I would get the other three that I liked, and cincentrate my efforts on them, and maybe indulge in something nice like a hareem of flame angels......

PS. If you decide to go for all four, I would not put them all in at once...... the two softies will need a head start, to establish themselves.... sure they'll pick on the pomocanthus and holocanthus at first..... but that won;t last long, but the head start and confidence gained by being established before the "big boys" will last a lifetime, and increase your chances of long term sucess, my a large margin, in my view.

Just a side note but a Mac will get every bit as big and likely as mean as a queen. They also seem to grow a bit faster in the right conditions. IMO a mac would likely be the boss in this tank needing a tank of at least 8' long and preferably 3' wide.

Up grade is comming..it is being incorirated into my new house build... tank will be 10ft x 4 ft x 3 ft

Well that changes everything :D

Well in my opinion to start off get the longer tank b/c angefish are very active espically the queen or blue. Also heres how i would add and get;

3-4inch bellus angelfish_add first_i personally think it looks better than the swallowtails
3-6inch scribble or personifer (cant decide)_add second_They both a very cool looking fish and are usually the more peaceful of angelfish
3-5inch asfur_add third_much more peaceful than the mac and from personal experience the MAC CAN ONLY BE ADDED AT THE VERY LAST. When i had it it took on a french that was 6inches when he was around 3 inches...and the mac was winning!
3-5inch queen_add last_definatly a beauty and from personal experience i never really had one that was aggressive other than when it came to eatting.

Thanks for the replys...yes iam considering waiting until the new tank and house are put together in the same location..utilities are on ect...actually a good idea...before i add the fish into a community tank..

what about using a
75g for an grow out tank for the bellus
175g bow for a grow out tank for the passer or scribble(want both i cant decide)
200g grow out for the asfur or mac
200g stock plastic stock pod grow out tank for the queen or blue
I dont have to get them "today" but as i find them i will only get them from my lfs or diverd den(live aquaria) so i may not beable to get them in the suggested order but if i use the grow out tanks for the next 8 months then transfer after the new tank has cycled(estimated time for move into the new house is about 8 months..

1) I would add 2-3 female bellus (hope one will change to a male) and you gota add a couple of flame angels :) together.

2)Personifer is pretty tough...I just added a 3" one to established juv emperor and juv blueface (both 4"-4.5") and the personifer is able to hold its ground with the emp and will not back down or run. Didn't quite fare that well with the BF though.

3)Asfur

4)Queen angel.

I've had good luck with my Scribbled, Majestic and Imperator. Scribbled is typically a bit more shy than the other two, but mine is the largest of the three by maybe 3/4". They act like three equals. No real dominate fish among them. All over 6" in size.

I have a queen angel and an annularis, will be adding a large adult emperor today hopefully. My queen is only about 3 inches and has grown maybe 1/2" in the 16 months that I've had it. EXTREMELY SLOW GROWER. I do not have any quarrels with the two, though.
