Large bump on one of my clowns (pic)

So I was just feeding my fish and I noticed a large bump on the white area of one of my clowns, almost looks like a pimple or something bulging out the side. I have no clue what it could be, other then the bump she eats and acts totally normal. Sorry for the low quality phone pic.

The strangest thing is that it is on both sides, otherwise I would say it may be a parasite or a tumor.

Yea that's what confuses me (both sides). At first I thought it may have been a bristle worm but what are the odds of having it on both sides? I'm scratching my head cause the fish is acting totally normal other then having the bumps.

If I were you I would take the fish out and put it in QT to treat with Maracyn 2 because it's supposed to help with the symptom your fish is exhibiting.

Thank you for the link, seems like that product should help. The strange thing is the fish isn't showing signs of dropsy ( severe bloating, lethargic) but it does look like ulcers. Unfortunately I do not have a hospital tank but could I treat the fish in a 5g bucket or Rubbermaid with an air stone?

Anyone have any luck with API Pimafix or Melafix? They claim to be reef safe and can be added directly to the display. Or do you think I should just leave the fish be and see if it goes away on its own since it's showing no signs of distress?

Dropsy looks very different. This is for sure not bloating, but rather looks like there is something below his skin.
The only reason to remove the fish from the display would be to prevent infection of other fish (should it be actually be infective).
For the fish itself it would most likely be best to stay in its familiar environment. I would for sure not expect any improvement in a naked QT with a wild guess medication.

I agree 100% which is why I decided not to remove and treat at this point and I'm glad I did, I'm happy to report that the swelling or bump on one side is almost gone completely and I have my fingers crossed that the other will also go away. I will keep you all posted on the progress whether good or bad and all your feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Glad it's doing better :)

The only times I use the "do nothing" approach is in the case of injury from a coral or anemone sting, fin damage due to fighting or single pop eye that is oftentimes a result of minor injury. Everything else gets stricter scrutiny in my book.
