Last one, I swear...

Lofty - you're freakin me out man, with your anemone issues! Have you ever lived in laguna beach? i know a guy named lofty that used to live around here.

I would be very thorough about what ever treatment you do use... I have been dealing with this problem primarily because of what you are talking about doing. (buying rock with the problem) Some have said cook the rock, but I am still very confused, even after 2 PMs from someone who does it regularly.... it seems to me that you would be creating prime conditions for growing aiptaisia by following these steps I think What I need is someone to explain scientifically what cooking rocks is and or does... to me it just seems that you islolate it from the rest of the system and give it no light.... but no light conditions is supposed to grow aiptaisia. It sounds to me like a noob orientation prank.... no offense to anyone who swears by it..... if it is a prank... the wrong person to prank.... I over analise everything.

Just for interest sake, how much lemon juice would you say is ok to use in a tank before it starts to affect water chemistry?

I guess that would depend on the size of the tank and the total water volume. I've been using the same 8oz bottle of lemon juice all year.

Please define? is there more than one peppermint shrimp?

Many shrimp sold as 'Peppermint Shrimp' are not true peppermints. Be careful not to get Camel Shrimp, they look almost the same, but are not.

I've had 3 Peppermint shrimp over the past year but they all tend to dissappear. :crazy1: I think my Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp kills them.

I have heard of "cooking" liverock to get rid of algae but not aiptasia. That doesn't mean it doesn't work though. I doubt the person is trying to prank you. He may be right or perhaps misinformed. If worse comes to worse you can bake the rock killing everything on it and then just reseed it. All life is gone, but if you like the look of the rock it will still be there.

I think this will be my next step if I can not get it under control..... I may just limp it until the 75 hex is ready to go then nuke the entire lot of it... I have some really choice pieces that would cost nearly a grand to replace. On shelf piece I have is about 15 LBS... As for my showpiece inhabitant... I still have no real suggestions... I am swearing off the CBB at least until a larger, more stable set up, I currebtly have a 40g tall with about 100 Lbs of LR, 2 oceleris, 1 BG chromis and a purple sea urchin (hair algea control). Some zoas, GSPs, and a couple leathers, some xenia and mushrooms, all recovering from the kliens butterfly that ate the rest of the aiptaisia.

I want a fish that is body and size like the CBB, colorful... either orange/blue, or yellow black and completly 100 pecent docile.

Any more thoughts?
