Last resort question haddoni

When anemones begin to smell I know it is game over. I have a haddoni that has a decaying patch where it was damaged and left untreated until now. I know it is going to die, but I have heard storied of people tearing their haddonis and gigs in half accidentally where half lives.

Would cutting the dead section out with treatment possibly be of any help? Also, would you recommend cutting the carpet straight through the middle keeping half the mouth or just a quarter where the decaying tissue is and leaving the mouth intact?

And a side questions, a carpet that looks great and does not deflate, but is not attaching its foot- is this a bad sign?

Thanks!

Its possible, clean sterilized sharp knife, and treatment qt ready, its worth a shot, but you should already be in qt treating

Exactly, I know haddoni/ giganteas are not like btas where they can be cut - I only wonder because I know of people who have accidentally ripped their anemone in half and one of the halves survived. Anemone was not in qt right after being damaged as this was not possible. It is in treatment now.

Also should I give it a dip in clean water with iodine and then place back in sterile treatment tank if this is a route that could possibly work?

Smell and not attaching you can save. Cipro...

Obvious necrotic area, not sure. If you excise leaving a gaping hole, my guess is it will die if already infected.

You personally know these people or have heard "stories"? I have never heard of a credible success story with a half of a gig or haddoni surviving.

On the other hand, damaged nems, such as those that get partially sucked into powerheads, have a high rate of success in terms of healing and they bounce back quickly (assuming that they are otherwise acclimated and healthy). I had a gig that got stuck in a MP40. I removed the nem, sucked off the dead tissue with a turkey baster and let it heal on its own. The injury looked like a bald spot but quickly grew tentacles in a few weeks.
