lastlight's 225 reef build

I'm actually considering using my two existing seio 620s, getting my ro/di, test kits, heaters and 2-part kits and skipping the controller and tunze for now. This would mean getting some life in the tank very soon and filling in the gaps later.

What do you people think? This would of course mean NOT going with the very best and getting there later =) Budget is a big concern right now but I'm also tired of the year+ i've been looking at this tank in my livingroom!

this is ridiculous! Amazing build, beautiful tank, many congrats! Cant wait to see it full of life.

PS - can you build me one of those lifts and ship to miami please? No hurry but the sooner the better. Thanks!! ;)

Very nice, very clean looking build. I wasn't sure I liked the stand as you were building it, but now that it is finished, I love it.

I will join along with everyone else in praise of that awesome stand. I also loved the artpiece that was on the wall behind the tank. Looking forward to more posts from you.

I'm in the same boat. Im going to run with what I have, to get the cycles going, etc and get a RKE + Koralias later. Really should do both upfront, but sometimes you just have to run with what you have.

Your stand is so great; you're ready to get something living in there. :smokin:

Well my better half has given me the green light to spend money to buy basically everything except my profilux. I freelance on the side (designer/programmer) so it's seriously time to pump a few projects out so I can get this thing RUNNING!

To order in the very near future:

- 2 x 6105
- 1 x ro/di
- enough 2-part to last me a couple years
- salt
- dry rock
- test kits, heaters. refractometer etc

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Btw I've been told I can run the tunze without a controller in the meantime at default full speed. If anyone disagrees please let me know.

I would run the Tunze's with no controller just to get it started and then add it later when you have the $$. Besides, your tank is going to be cycling for awhile once you get to the point of actually putting water and rock in it. That is the time when you can buy your controllers ect.

BTW.... NICE BUILD =) Love it

Wow! Extremely well crafted build. Definately tagging along for this one.:)

thats interesting about the starfire glass having issues. I will have to do some research on that.

Love the light setup!

The most amazing stand and setup I have seen. I was looking at a way to design the stand for my new tank, and I think I found it. Beautiful.
My last stand was an ADA look-a-like for a 30gallon tank, but the new tank will be 120G so I need a better stand. Will set it up like a reef with sump and plumbing, but run freshwater tank until I am educated enough for a reef setup.

Thanks. We Canadians ROCK!

Very disapointed that we no longer have a Calgary office... meaning I'd have no "work" paying for a flight out to check out your system first hand.. :(

I will be modeling my system very much after yours, and I hope you take that as a compliment. Your stand design has solved so many probles for me alone... The 'auto-retracting' lights are sexy as well.

Looking foward to any and all updates my frozen-north friend...

Thanks for commenting =)

I picked up a few items this week.

The waveboxes didn't work out for me...too loud and my water level runs too high I think with the return pump on! I also don't think I'll use the stream rocks so I've ordered the parts to mount those 2 pumps onto magnets...

So the stuff I'll keep and use is:

1 x 7095
2 x 6100
1 x 6101

Anyone have experience with an odd number of pumps? I plan to have the back mounted two in the traditional top corners. Third blowing across the back and lower down?

Hey!

I didn't realize you had a build thread going on here as well! Its really coming together now.
