latazyo's new 40BR tank build thread

haha the BK loop. today actually I closed off two of the outlets in the front and installed two eductors on the side two outlets. let me just say they are insane how much the flow increased, when they were put on, the sand in the center of the tank cleared completly, so I had to open one more of the outlets to slow the flow a little. so with two eductors on the side and one regular 3/4" opening in the front the tank is getting MASSIVE flow, the fish love it.

did you buy or build the eductors?

my BK loop is not glued or anything so it can be modified

do you think I should change it to only one front outlet instead of 2?

Leave it like it is and do what he did. 2 enductors on the back and 2 hydor rotin deflectors. You should not need any other pumps in there...

You don't need to glue the T's. Just glue the 90's and the T that's comming from the pump..

One thing I would change is the 2 outlets that are on the back of the tank. I would put those outlets on each side or offset them...If you keep them like that you will destroy the flow from the front outlets with the flow from the back outlets...

the back outlets are 3/4>1/2 threaded reducing Tees....my 1/2" locline will thread right into them so it'll be locline outputs on those

If you want enductors they are very easy to make and cost about 5 bucks for 2. Feel free to come on over and take a look at how I built mine

I bought all of the parts from Lowes. There is a parts list on that thread with the actual Lowes part # for each piece. The are pretty easy to make and they do increase flow.

so with my setup would I be better off just two of them instead of the schplitter loop?

my return is a mag 9.5 remember

I would do 2 hydor rotating deflectors and then 2 of those on the loop. The deflectors will give you the wave action and the enductors will blast evrthing around...

picked up about 43 pounds of rock today

13 dry base
30 live

the rock is awesome, it is homemade rock made by ebe and its probably the coolest homemade rock Ive ever seen

you cant see it in the pics, but the rocks are about 3-4" tall and have many openings in them for fish to swim through

here is the pic, I shouldnt have to say which is live and which is dry

so I now have a total of about 75-80 pounds of live rock
