Lawnmower Blenny - Heavy breathing? - Video link

I am thinking maybe he got his gills burned somewhere along the line being handed down from fish owner to fish owner in a dip. I saw one at a certain the pet store (not where I got mine) and it looked like it was hardly breathing. In fact you could not really tell it was. I got mine from petkooo so no telling what the did when they got him.

Thanks for the feedback.

When mine is not running around alot it's breathing normal.Wait until your lights go out, about an hour then check to see if it still breathing hard.

I wouldn't worry too much. Mine breathes exactly like that and has done so since its introduction (about 6 months ago). Mostly visible when they're active but since they're pretty much active all the time...

I introduced a 5 in. lawnmower Sunday and was breathing rapidly from the start. I found him dead this AM. I have no idea what killed him.

Yea, I was waiting for the DOA reports to come in, lol. I might put in a bubble wand in the far corner to see if that adds any oxygen and see how he breaths. Right now, I have him in a 20 long with a aquaclear 20 flowing with no filter in the right corner to make some bubbles and motion, a maxi-jet 400 in the lower left and the return to a 204 flowing in the rear left. I have some flow going but I want to add some oxygen.

I have had him for 2 weeks. Its a newer 40 gal salt and I am also new to salt water. He is always hanging the rocks and I dont see him swim around much.

Water perimeters test ok. Pump is working and have a power head moving water also

Is he ok?

I just looked at my knucklehead one and other than that immediate dash to the tank front yelling in fish tank talk feed me more. The gills of a LM do seem to move a lot and once of more a second after they have been active . Just keep a watch if all prams are good hopefully he or she is ok.
