4' fixture shipping is around $250 depends on how you ship it.
This is information only

Who makes this fixture and is there a link online for more info ? Am I reading this correctly that a 2 foot 24 led fixture is only 251 dollars. Are these cree leds ? Do these fixtures have cooling fans ? This is probably the cheapest I have seen yet for led fixtures.

Thortek, they don't really have much information on their website.
When you look at the price you have to factor these

1. Shipping cost
2. No warranty(unless you are paying $500 for the shipping)

as for your questions
1. Yes they have fan(s)
2. They are good quality LED.

someone sells these fixtures in the US, but the price is twice as much the price listed(I think, don't quote on this), however, they provide you w/ warranty.

again, this is information only

I agree. Cree is pretty good
It's like buying Computer CPUs. you can pay $200 for a 2.8Ghz CPU, or $500 for a 3.0Ghz cpu.
Same thing for Cree and other LED. you are paying double price for 30mW(480vs450). They are not that different, unless you are buying really cheap LED.

I would disagree, actually. I believe you said yourself quality control is really sketchy, which is how they're able to sell so cheap because all LEDs make it through instead of culling.

The advantage of Crees is not only the quality of the LED itself, but just as important to me tight control on consistent light spectrum. A lot of the Chinese LEDs are working great for people. Personally, you're still having a ton of money by using Crees, but I feel I know that I'm getting a superior product. I'm also betting the Crees will last longer due to better craftsmanship. Its not a guarantee, though, but for no more than they are, its worth it to me. We're talking about a difference of $100 and a little bit of time.

Brandon, I dont disagree with you.

I used to buy millions of LEDs for a company so I have a little more insight here.

CREE is selling the technology, the others are capable of doing the same thing, but they can't because of the copy right. like I said, if it's not really cheap LED manufacture, they are not that different. it's all about branding, like sony, sharp, panasonic.. of course sony is good w/ all the fancy technologies, but I don't buy it cause it costs a lot more than others. can I say the QC is much better than the others? maybe, but not necessary.

anyway, I am not saying don't buy Cree. if the budget is not an issue, I'd get cree too.
