LED SPS tanks

Anybody have a sps tank lit with LED's? I'm think about making the switch but am up in arms
 
Thanks! I have added a lot more sps frags since I upgraded the lighting. I can grow them anywhere in the tank now whereas before I had to keep them closer to the halides. Previously I had a 250 watt halide/t5 combo. The LEDs blow away my old setup.
 
I just assembled my third fixture with soderless connectors and drilled/tapped HS way left on this pic,xpgs are not on yet as compare to the two on the right. Sorry its not clear but you get the idea,growth of my sps have since doubled and comparable to a 300-400 MH. I am pretty happy with the results.

here is the sideview pic,with it was closer and hoping to add T5s actinics on the side to get a nice 14-20,000 color scheme.

The first month my electric bill fell $80.00. In the beginning I had the AI units at 100% for only 2 hours, since I didn't want to burn anything with the extra light intensisty. Over the next 6 months I increased the duration so it's at 100% for 6 hours. I am going to keep it at that level.
Getting back to the electricity, I have noticed that the AC for that room doesn't go on now until after 1 or 2 PM. The savings have been significant. Of course this is offset by the cost of the lights. It should take approximately three and a half years for them to pay for themselves.
 
reefkeeper2,nice tank,I remember seeing your tank and it was TOTM right? Thanks for sharing the video,yes my bill dropped to 50 from the total and pretty suprised,keep it on about 8 to 10 hours
 
ptr13, I wish I had the electrical knowhow to build my own like you did. Very impressive. The tank looks great too, great color so it looks like you did everything right.
Yup, the TOTM was about 2 years ago now.
 
If I will build more fixtures,would advise the drilled and tapped because I was able to finish in two days screwing down LEDs but had my friend wired the fans and drivers and brackets,cut the cost in half and more LEDs,each fixture has close to 60 LEDs reefkeeper,trying to max out the wattage for more growth,thanks reefkeeper and hope my sps will have growth like yours,so impressive. I love your blue throat trigger or is that the crosshatch?
 
very nice,thinking of getting one for my next tank,alway love triggers. They remind me of submarines,they have quite a personality like love to spit out water when trying to catch your attention.
 
Nice tank ptr13! A quick question is how many blues to white ratio are you using and how's the noise level of the fan's on the fixture you built? Could you also give details of death of the tank and how many led's you're using and the wattage being consumed by just the fixture? Do you also get shimmer on the tank? Thanks.
 
The green fishes are called green wrasses,my terrible twins,bought them together. The raito is 24/24 blue to white and a row of 11 to 12 xpgs to give it a high noon blast and it is dead silent,not the same as the ballast where you hear a hum. The depth of the tank is 31 inch,one of the reasons my buddy recommended 48 LED xpes the newer generation of LEDs. No problems with depth with LEDs,it can really penetrate and grow sps on the sandy bottom,is it 50 to 60 watt per fixture?not sure yet but it is less than the 250 watt MH that I was using and more powerful. Thanks reefsahoy,its coming along and one of our goals was to cut the cost of maintaining the tank especially with the rise of electrical bill and unhook some unneeded equipment like the chiller. I will LED my 120 for the next sps tank with same ratio with two HS. SHimmer! I would say of course and the beauty of LEDs are you can control them like as if you are going through overcast to full sun.
 
Anyone here know were to get the AI SOL units in Europe?
The only seller on ebay refuses to ship them to Europe :thumbdown
 
A year and a half of growth shown here. No new corals added since the first video. Anemone is the only one added since.
