Leonardo's Formosa Forest

I finally found another reefer who appreciates squirrel fish as much as I do!! Great looking tank. I have A. microphalma as well and its a stunner!!

Some new pictures. Sorry for the dirty glass, I just can't clean it anymore :(

Btw, the upgrade is about to start. I already bought some equipment (4xTunze 6101+Multicontroller, Bubble King Super Marin 250) The tank will be a 250 Gallon Rimless, with a 100 Gallon Sump.
I'll start a new thread when the build begins.

I can only imagine what the new tank will look like. You definitely need some more room for those stags.

Thanks guys! :) I do need more room for the stags. I don't want to frag them too much becuase I want to have even larger colonies. I do have to cut some bases off because they are starting to STN a bit (because of not enough light), but that problem won't occur in the new tank :)

Thanks moo0o! :)

Edward, I want to create a few Island. I want to keep large colonies also this time. The corals that I will focus on are "staghorn"' Acropora (from my Formosa-Forest), tabling Acropora, branching Montipora and a section only for Acropora Humilis.

I don't have planned an exact lay-out yet. I've bought a few books about Japanese gardens that I will study, I'm sure I will get enough inspiration and information out of that to come up with an aquascape in the next months.
I will also look very carefully at japanese tanks like Yamamoto's tank, Rainbow Lagoon II and of course the 20 degree angled front tank.

how do you compensate for increased calcium demand as your stonies grow? do you just notch up your reactor randomly?

I'm really looking forward to your new tank thread. Please post a link here so we can all follow along with you.

I second wanting to be abe to watch the new tank setup. Your tank is awesome, and with the extra room it'll be unreal!

ezcompany; I don't have a Calcium-reactor. I use the balling method (2-part and trace-elements) + Sodiumfree salt to keep the water ionically balanced.
I use a Grotech TECIII 3-channel doser for that.

I measure my alk. every week so I can ajust the dosing a little when Ca/Alk uptake increases.

Dudester, IPT; I will certainly do that! I think I will start a thread in the Large Tank Forum when I start making progress.

Thanks again for all the nice reactions.

Leonardo, a pic of ur 'formosa forest' is set as my moniter background :)

question about additives; what trace, vodka, pappone(sugar), etc. do you add? i would love to hear more about ur winning recipe for MASSIVE growth!

Paul, nice to hear that :)

It's very simple, I don't dose much.

I dose Tropic Marin Pro K+ and A- elements daily as recommended. Besides that I do a 15% water change every 2 weeks with KZ Reefers Best Premium.
I follow the BB methodology that includes rich feeding and fast nutrient export.
