Paul, nice to hear that :)

It's very simple, I don't dose much.

I dose Tropic Marin Pro K+ and A- elements daily as recommended.

Leonardo

I dose the same additives and have seen nice coloration in my corals, especially my blues and purples but I'm not sure if it's because of them or something else I'm doing.

Do you think some of your coloration can be attributed to these additives?

Looking forward to your new tank Leonardo...I'm too love to collect staghorn sps. Tropicmarin A and K do help a lot with the purple/blue and green in sps.

Hi Leonardo,

that is truly amazing growth! and it all looks so gorgeously and naturally overgrown that the usually sterile aesthetic aspect of barebottoms has disappeared. i've got to re-read this entire thread once more to see if ive missed out any 'secret' details man.

thanks for the inspiration.

Some new pictures. Sorry for the dirty glass, I just can't clean it anymore :(

Btw, the upgrade is about to start. I already bought some equipment (4xTunze 6101+Multicontroller, Bubble King Super Marin 250) The tank will be a 250 Gallon Rimless, with a 100 Gallon Sump.
I'll start a new thread when the build begins.

I will also look very carefully at japanese tanks like Yamamoto's tank, Rainbow Lagoon II and of course the 20 degree angled front tank.

Leonardo

Sweet Tank! I love it!

BTW. Do u have any links to these tanks?

Can; The original pendant came with an internal ballast and one MH bulb.
I bought another lamp, bulb fittings and wires. The two ballast became external, leaving enough room in the pendant for two bulbs. I made a new larger reflector from polished aluminium sheet.
I rewired the whole setup, so only the lamps are in the pendant, everything else is out, in a (air-cooled) box.
I will make a photo soon to explain better.

TCU Reefer; I experienced an increase in color since I use these trace-elements. Especially the green and blue colors become more intense.
I tested it by not dosing anymore for a few weeks, colors became less vibrant.
Maybe because I skim wet and always use GAC, trace-elements are taken out of the sytem fast.

ycnibrc; Thanks! I experience the same thing with these elements.

iantoh; Thank you for the compliment :)

Davidb6; I don't feed the corals directly. I feed the fish (and the whole system) by giving lots of different food. Spectrum Thera a + pellets, Prime Reef Flake food, OSI spirulina Flake food, frozen mysis, frozen artemia, cyclopeeze etc.
I feed multiple times a day in small amounts. I believe when you feed the fish, you feed the whole system indirectly. (sponges, tunicates, corals, featherdusters etc.) They break down the food even more etc etc.

143gadgets; Thank you! Of course I have some links :)

143gadgets/Chris; You're welcome :)

TrueBlackPercula; I dose Tropic Marin K+ and A- elements. 4 ml per day each.

Hi Leonardo.

I love your tank. I looked at your link(s) for the 20 degree angled tank and I could not see which tank(s) were angled.

Does one of those tanks in the link have an angled front so you are also looking down somewhat at the livestock? Like a clam tank?

Thanks,

James

Thank you James! :)

when you scroll down on this page: http://www.t35l.com/suisou-2c.htm you see the angled front so you can look down (a bit) on the colonies.

I want to create the same "look" of these tanks for my upgrade. I already tried to do that with the Formosa-Forest.

Leonardo

hey can you please tell me how much sand you have in you RDSB?

Thanks i want to install one on my tank :)

120 gallons any advice for me?

Thanks
Michael

Here's a better view for you

trueblackpercula; I used one bag of Caribsea Oolite livesand.

Edward; I think I saw that picture on your webpage :) Thanks for posting!
Do you have more pictures of this aquarium? (maybe the article itself) I'm trying to get this look for my new 250.

AWWWWWWWWWWW thanks for the help. so 40 pounds is a good starting point? I think I need to do the same as you did add something to the tank becuase it aids in adding nutrients? was this the purpouse you were looking to acheive? from what i have read the oolite is the better choice.....Now if i can find a plastic container thats 14 x 12 x 4" deep it will be ideal

Thanks again
Michael

I had a local Plastics shop build me one out of acrylic. It wasnt to bad at ~$50.00. Served its purpose well.

Hope that helps.

Leonardo.... BEAUTIFUL TANK! I love it.

I have a 50 gallon cube right now and am upgrading to a 220 gallon cube-ish tank. I will be aquascaping it with two or three "bommies" as you call them. I love the natural look of a stag forest where you cant see ANY rock. Good luck with the new project. Keep us posted. Here is a link to my very slow moving upgrade. ReefWaters 220
