Leonardo's Lagoon

Leo - I had my last apogon ( Red Spot ) just die the other night. I was able to keep them just shy of a year. I think the next go around I will be much more prepared.

With most of the smaller apogons I think they need high flow and many feedings. A member on here Uhuru has a NPS tank and had a kalk mixer filled with food that is dosed in the tank through out the day. He has a large mix of foods for the corals but something like this would be perfect for these fish.

If there was only a way to keep the water cooled so the food would not spoil and only have to fill it up weekly or bi-monthly that would be ideal. Feeding 6-8x a day in small doses.

Leonardo, those Apogon Margaritophorus look very similar to the A. cyanosoma that I've been able to keep alive with some success. They seem a lot more hardier than the smaller ones such as the A. parvulus. It would be awesome to see a large school of them. I really want to do it in my tank but I have so many other fish I want to add too :D

Kenny, I agree that A. Parvulus is harder to keep, I think they have less reserves than the larger Apogon species, which make acclimatisation between shipping even more important.
Threadfin cardinals never gave any problems to me, so if I want to play it safe I only introduce a large school of them.

Good to hear Flo!

Joost, I try to maintain the following parameters using Balling:

Mg: 1400-1500
Ca: 420-450
KH: 9-9,5

It's hard to take a picture of the Apogons, they are mostly hiding between corals braches and the tank is too deep to take a sharp picture of them.

Ed, the tank will arrive in the end of this month. I'm selling all my large colonies right now, and preparing for the move.
I think it can be up in running in February :)
