IT's not much right now,but we are just happy to be back into it after about 3years.

Its a 36gal Bow that we got for $125 with Stand,hood,Cheap lights,Mil 3000 backpack,and a 300w heater.

here is the night we set it up

day1.jpg

Since it was a used tank and we didnt know 100% if it would hold water,we just filled it about 1/2 full of some tab and it did thankfully.

After that we added in 20lbs of sand,i cant remember the name off hand.its the kind that comes packaged with water and it clams your tank wont cycle and i must say it really works, this is the 3rd time we have used it and the tanks useing it has been our best..

next it was more tab water with Instant Ocean, and we added about 30lbs or so of dead rock, dead coral we got for $1.25lbs..

Well its been 3weeks now and this is how the tank is coming along

In the past week or so we have added a VERY VERY nice clownfish(beleave he is a Clarkii, altho they had her listed as a sebae) $18

a Black Seahorse.the store didnt know how to care for her,so they knocked off $14 and give her to us for $15 YAAAHH our 1st SH.we figured we couldnt do any worse and we always wanted to try one..

a Leather Coral.i know i went WAY to fast with this one,but the LFS is going out of biz and for $20 i couldnt pass it up(more then 2/3's off any other LFS around us)

A cleaner Shrimp $15

some little misc plants, tuttle hair and something else i think..

AS soon as i get my PC's and get everything leveled out we are going to add a bit more rock and some more coral..

So what do you guys think?BE NICE NOW lolol..

WOW! i honestly think it looks great but watch out for which fish you choose with the Seahorse.. im guessing he is not Captive Bred so dont get any SH's that are captive bred b/c they could get diseases from your SH now...
also what's it eating? do you have it on Live food or Frozen food?
also needs a lighting upgrade for the coral... but really that is a NICE CLEAN tank.. also dont rush things.. also the plants you have are Caulerpa and Shaving Brush plant (thats the one that looks like a tree).. also the Shaving Brush will probably die back ALOT but leave it in there and if conditions are right you should see it spring back up.... also the clown looks like a Amphiprion bicinctus (Two Banded clownfish) but i could be totally wrong.. ask on the clownfish forum..
VERY nice tank

O CRAP,http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/clownfish/bicinctusclownredsea/

wants $80 for a Amphiprion bicinctus.if thats what mine is then i got a hell of a deal for $18 HAHA

yeah i know we need a MAJOR lighting upgrade, but we didnt plan on getting a coral this soon, and its taking me FOREVER(about 5 days so far)to find a good PC in the 110-130w range besides jebo that we have the cash for right now..

everything is going so good with the tank right now, that im just waiting for the %#^ to hit the fan,LOL because its been to EZ so far...

the SH is eating very well.right now we are feeding her Frozen food, and she will even go after flake food we have for the fish..

thats great about the SH bc alot of the times people cant get Wild Caught SH's to eat frozen food.. but now be careful stocking your tank b.c. fish that compete for food w/ seahorses (cause SH are slow eaters) and that swim to fast will stress it out and then it will be sucseptiable[sp] to disease...
also lol look at the diff. in prices from Liveaquaira.com and the marine center
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=1438
good luck with your tank!

we are going to set up a 20gal down the road and keep the seahorse in there so we can get a Anemone for the CF..i found a very nice 8-10" green carpet Anemone for $25,and about 2-4" bubble Anemone for the same, but because of the lighting,SH and the new tank i was forced to pass them up :(

thanks for the compliments on the tank by the way..

by the way, that seahorse isn't gonna compete for food very well, so you might have to target feed him. the clowns will try their best to keep him from eating.

the clown doesnt like the frozen food that we are feeding the SH,so that isnt a prob..but thanks for the info..

BTW,i just won a 30" CSL 130w PCw/moon lights for $107 on ebay.so when i get it ill post another pic..also why is everyone saying you cant keep any corals but softies under PC's?in our 75 we keep many things going outside of the soft fam.our flowerpot was the biggiest ive seen anywhere taking up almost 1/4 of the tank when it was fully out..

who said that?? with PC's you can keep softies and LPS and if you have enough a BTA (which BTW is a better choice then the carpet anemone b.c. carpet anemone's are harder to take care of [depending on species] and more light demanding)
also wait for your tank to be a few months old at LEAST before you get a BTA

not in this thread, but ive been doing alot of searching for good PC's and atleast 90% of posters knock PC.not everyone can go MH..

Tank looks good, but I have doubt with the sea horse.

The need cooler water temps like 74 or under, and that may be a little hard on the corals or fish in the tank.

Also, you cannot feed a sea horse flake. You should try and pick up some PE (Piscene Energetics) mysis shrimp. It is high nutrious for them.

Also, LPS and anemones is a no no with sea horses. I would stick to non stinging corals if you plan on keeping him alive.

You are off to a nice start, but IMO you should have skipped the sea horse and done research before you purchased him. Good luck, and check out the sea horse forum here to get more info on proper care.

Here are some Updated Pic's,hope ya all like them..The blue tint from the lights doent show up very well in the pics..but the new CSL lighting is very nice..

looks good.. but either get rid of the anchor coral or seahorse...
OR put a divider in the tank or somehow seperate the seahorse from the anchor coral

here's the Anchor after 3days.coming out quite nice..its coming out so much that we are going to have to move the anchor or the toad, and they are atleast 3-4" apart..

Anchorday3.jpg

Fishfreak218,i understand what you are saying about the seahorse and the anchor's stinging cells.but so far the SH doesnt even get close to the anchor...

Like i said in one of the 1st posts in this thread we've never keep Seahorses b4 so i could be dead wrong, but if the stinging cells of a anchor(or any hard coral for that matter) were really that powerfull then you wouldnt be able to keep any fish with them.i beleave what you are talking about manly applys to Anemones as not only are their stings much more powerfull but their Tentacles are much more "Sticky" making it very hard for a fish to get away from one.

I know this 1st hand as we hatched a baby banded shark in our last reef and the whole time books i was reading and a LFS told me not to keep that shark in the tank with the Anemone or one day the anemone would have the shark for lunch, but i didnt listen because i didnt want to give up either the shark or sebae.sure enuff after about 2months we came home one day to the shark being half way in the anemone, what a scene, it was so sad and completly our fault.

but as i said b4 i dont beleave a hard corals stings are THAT powerfull.if they were you wouldnt be able to keep lets say a Mandarin, yet they live side by side hard coarls everyday in our tanks.if you read a thread on here about clown gobies, the reefer said that their hammer i beleave it was, stung the gobie MANY TIMES after it repeatedly landed on the coral but the gobie lived and was just fine.if the SH can pull itsself away from our Mag hot and CSS skimmer intakes, then i know it could pull away from the anchor..

Sea horses have a softer "skin" than other fish and are more prone to dieing from even aptasia stings.

PS- What's your temperature?

im keeping my temp around 78..

Also we never had "MOON LIGHTS"on any of our tanks b4 this CSL setup.when its time to cut the lights off,i cut the 10k off, leave the Actinic on and cut the moonlights on.about 30mins-hr later ill cut the Actinic off and leave the moonlights running all night.

within the time just the Actinic and moonlights are on,the Finger leather and star's close up and go to"sleep" the anchor close's up maybe half way and stays that way all night, but the toad hasnt closed or even shrunk at all since we put the new lights on the tank a few days ago,yet when the crap light was over the tank he would close up quite a bit even thur out the day and the day or 2 b4 we added the lights he didnt open up at all.can anyone think of a reason for this?

No to keep bashing you or trying to pick on you, but I only want the best for the animals we keep in our aquariums. Along with that, I like your tank and you have gone far with it.

But, keeping a sea horse at 78 degrees is asking for death. They should be kept around 72 degrees, and as you probably know, most corals might get ticked off that low.

In my opinion, you should set up another tank for the sea horse specifically desgined for it, or sell/give it to another reefer or LFS.

Good luck.
