Lets do this - 225+ reef bar

I've gotta say thanks again to Doug for the Regal Angel, it has instantly become my favorite fish...its fat, it eats flake and pellet, and best of all, its photogenic :)

Hi Mate,

Im in the process of building a similar size tank and wandering how your Sfiligoi Stealth covers the 36inch depth for light spread. The fixture is only 20inches. The pics look very bright but do you find SPS are ok in the areas not directly under the bulbs? also how is 4ft bulbs over a 5ft tank?

thanks

Aaron

MCliffy,
Thats the same size as mine. I've had it for a little over a year, but it hasnt grown much...maybe about 1/2 an inch....

great looking fish Mike. How did you make out at the swap?

couldn't resist picking up a few items....SaraB gave me what I think is a M. Verrucosa (green w/ dark purple polyps, the coral was handpicked by fijiblue in Fiji). Also picked up a season's greetings monti from her. Snagged a ORA red planet and rainbow nasuta from fijiblue as well.

I"m so bummed I couldn't make it! I had to work only 2 hours, from 1-3 on Saturday. Let's see some more pics of your additions!

Mike, I love how the colors of your tank "pop". If I had to do it all over again, I would probably go the T-5 route as opposed to the MH's that I have. I'm planning for a future upgrade to a tank with almost the same dimensions as yours. Do you find it difficult to get good growth in the lower reaches of your tank, or do you feel the T-5's reach all the way down?

Nick

Nick, look at these PAR numbers from my old tank. This is from a 54W ATI Powermodule. The fixture was 12" shorter than the length of the tank and about 8" shorter than the depth, and I still got incredible light penetration at the sides, front and back. Sorry mcliffy for answering for you, but I wanted to provide some objective evidence that T5's do, in fact, reach "all the way down."

Dudester - thanks much. That evidence explains what I was going to say from my personal experience...I'm growing corals a few inches off my sandbed. I recently added a browned out efflo about 1.5" off the sandbed, and it is already growing and starting to color up.

Thanks glad to hear it from both of you....I wish better information on T-5's had been available when I was setting up my current system.
