Lets do this - 225+ reef bar

JR - thanks man. Its difficult to get perspective but that stag is over a foot tall and probably a foot and a half wide, it officially hit the surface a month ago. Love the emperor, he also eats acan lords (echinata is fine tho) and micros. I've seen him nip at my open brain, but it seems to tolerate it fine.

Brandon - thanks, just sent you an email.

Very nice Mike :)

How big is your tang now? I have been playing with the idea of pulling my dussumier since I have my fish trained to eating out the net finally.

The Mata tang is a good 9" or so I'd so, basically massive. Going to pulled as soon as I get around to catching him.

Tank is looking amazing Mike, just fantastic!

Holy cow that emp has grown since I saw him... he was but a wee emp a year ago!

Hey just want to say it was nice meeting you Mike! Thanks for taking time out of your day to show me your aquarium. Your tank colors are much nicer in live than in pictures. keep up the good work!

Was at Mike Clifford's home the other night to photograph his reef. His Blue-throat trigger, with an attitude, did some digging and created a dust storm that ruined the coral photography. I'll return soon to try again.

The highlight of the evening's shoot was Mike's Acanthurus mata tang, which is about 10 in. long and fat and sassy. Here are a couple of close-up shots. Quite a beautiful fish.

Awesome shots Gary! Thanks again for coming out and apologies on behalf of Trigger the Digger. I'm going to have to get him trained properly before we attempt another photo session.

How do you like the aquascience Duo bulb? I heard they look just like the Blue plus, if thats the case why not just have 7 blue plus instead of the duo?

Thanks, great tank by the way.

Sorry I missed that. I'd say they are about 4" off the water, although I've had them higher and haven't noticed much difference.

Mine are about 9.5" off the water, but my tank is only 21" tall. All of my SPS is about midway in the tank except for my superman monti and tyree ponape birdsnest which is on the bottom. I wonder if I should lower my lights?? I am running 8x80w overdriven with Icecap 660's with 4-ATI Blueplus, 3-ATI AB Special, and 1- ATI Pro Color. The only reason I ask is because my growth seems to be soooooo much slower than everybody else's.

Maybe try lowering it, but on the opposite end, maybe you are getting some photoinhibition because those are a lot of really high PAR bulbs, especially overdriven. I would do 4 blue plus, 2 AB special, 1 fiji purple, and 1 uvl super actinic.

Unfortunately UVL doesn't make any 60" bulbs. I am running 2- VHO Super Actinic R's though. Maybe I could run a combo of 4 blueplus, 2 AB special, 1 procolor, and the 2 VHO Actinics.

Noone around here has a PAR meter for me to measure exactly how much light I'm getting. I may just have to break down and buy one myself.

wow! your tank is truly amazing... a complete package...

just a quick question... do your angels bother any of your corals? whats your secret in the success of having angels even if you have allot of corals in your tank? thank you...

ptan - I see an occasional nip, but nothing the coral can't withstand. The only corals I've had problems with are some varieties of zoas, acan lords, and micros. Otherwise I've been able to keep most SPS and LPS successfully with the angels.
