That Oregon Tort is fricken ridiculous! Wow.

I think thats an austera, although a few austeras are often called torts. And its a beautiful coral, great color! I had one but my multicolor angel took to eating the slime coat off the acro and killed it slowy. I keep seeing them maricultured and want another one...

I agree it's an austera and just friggin beautiful. It was on of my last "want" acros as it's a classic that got lost in the shuffle years ago. I was lucky enough to get a mini colony from a friend shutting his system down. It's never had a trade name other than Tri color austera.

The coralite structure is different than a Tort.

Yea i cant believe its never been named by anyone, the yellow tips and blue/purple polyps on it are beautiful, here is my old yellow tip austera.

Reeflover, turn your Mp40 off, turn your return off, stand over your tank with your camera, focus... And take a freaking top down shot!!! Thoes are beautiful colonies.

This is with all my leds off and just 10k :o There was to much light reflection on the water surface. If someone in my area can do better have at it.

Dude thank you, my sps addiction has been filled today :) Did cutting frags off the OT help it stay so dense or did it just grow like that?

I don't have an answer for that . But I had the coral for 5yrs before I made my first frags thanks to a friend that moved south and started selling at swaps. I am trying not to frag anymore branches that are growing toward the surface. And seriously thinking about having a tank or this tank just for this coral or moving a few corals out of display. I could take a 100 frags off this coral but I don't want to stress it out and really don't care so much about the money as I do this beauty:inlove:

I have a frag of copps blue monster tort. He says it is between the oregon and cali tort.

Here is one of his pics:

Are you running 10k reeflux?

I used them in the past also. Blues look sick under that bulb. which ballast are you running them on? I tried one recently on a lumatek ballast but the bulb looked pink.

I have a galaxy electronic ballast now and had a used coralvue ballast that I got on ebay but wouldn't fire the lamp everyday. It's ugly without my leds on and some corals are not so nice :hmm5: But the growth is awesome and I also got a brand new 400watt 14k Aquastar for $35 that replaced the aquaconnect lamp that I will try next.
