Are any holes in the tank yet?

Nope, not yet. Im concentrating on building a steel stand at the moment and wont probably make any holes until I am 110% decided on my overflow setup (which will be through the back glass, not the bottom)

bump, cuz I'm lookin into a 5'!

Hey.... Thanks for the bump! :D

This thread has some awesome looking 5 footers and Im sure that theres a few more floating around out there.

On a side note, I built my semi-Coast to Coast overflow box that I will be osing in my new 120. Im going to use the 3-pipe external durso system as outlined by BeanAnimal in THIS THREAD

Heres how it turned out. Its 36" long, about 4" tall and 3" deep. Its made from about $2 worth of scrap acrylic that I picked up at the local plastic supply house :D. It obviously has no "teeth" but that is by design. Im going to built a top for it and also incorporate some gutter-guard to keep the critters out.

Heres the box completed:

And here it is where it will roughly sit in the tank:

I'm real close to doing the same thing myself.

I am currently looking where to order the tank from, thinking 5x2x2 (give or take a inch or two ) and I want to use the same rig.

Would you (or are you) gonna do a build thread to show how you did it and any gotchas you might run into?

at the rate I am going, I'll have 5er to show in say.......a couple of years. :(

I am trying my best to take pictures as the project comes along so that I can create a build thread. Im usually so involved with the design / construction of my projects that I totally forget to take pics of the build process!

I have no desire to pay the costs involved with maintaining a larger tank, so Im kind of "going all out" on my 120 build (steel stand, African Mahogany canopy & cabinet, custom DIY liverock, etc..). My goal is to have it up and running by late August to mid September. So far Im ahead of schedule :D

I'm setting up the Deep Sea 5 footer right now. It is 60x30x26. I think that is 185. Had a custom made stand 42" tall out of maple. And the sump is built by Melv As soon as I can get the camera I'll post a picture.

The Deep Sea 185 is the only 5' tank I'd ever go with. I hate narrow, tall tanks. :(

The DS185 is the only "standard" tank I know of that's wider than it is tall. :D

I understand you on this, however not everone has room for a 30" wide tank. :(

In my situation, I had 2 options; a standard 90 gallon (48"x18"X27") or the Perfecto 120 gallon (60"x18"27"). It is going to be challenging, and limiting as to my aquascaping options. I plan on solving this by making my own DIY rock in the exact shapes that I want to allow a unique 'scape in a "narrow" tank.

Perfecto makes a 60x36x27 tank...........it's one of their new models. They also have one that's 48x36x27.

very nice Phong33!!!! With the flood of "SPS Dominate" tanks in recent years, its kinda cool to see an LPS/Softie dominate tank!

I wish I had the space for a tank with a footprint wider deeper than 18"! (Still... It dwarfs my current 30 gallon 36"x12")!!!

Big E, I believe you are correct. There's some discussion of the new Perfecto tanks in THIS THREAD.

I think a 5' 150 may be the perfect upgrade for me -- are any of you running MH lighting? Are you running 2 bulbs, or 3?
