***!!!let's see those rare clownfish!!!!***

There was a good sized shipment of these fish that hit the states about a year ago +/-. I haven't seen them since. They were said to have come from Australia. Definitely not your run of the mill clarkii. Beautiful fish!

I just noticed something. If that's 1/2" eggcrate behind the female, that puts her about 3 to 3.5 inches from her anal fin, to her dorsal. That's a monster fish. Don't let Jeremy Wade, from River Monsters, know you have it. He'd break out his fishing poll. LOL

I just went this weekend to one of the big saltwater fish stores over here in Miami (http://www.allfishemporium.com/) and they had a bunch of those and a black color variation.

I think we'd call that a "misbar" not a rare morph. It is easier to breed clowns with misbars (or no bars) than clowns with perfect bars.

This is not called misbar, there is a melanopus morph that comes from the Coral Sea does not have head stripes as adults.

Also, there's the fire clown (A. ephippium) that does not have a head bar either. (Their red saddle as a black spot seems to fade away with aquarium conditions).

From the "uncommon" list. A. sebae
I owned this fish for several years, and couldn't find a mate for it. This is a pic of when I tried to pair it with A. polymnus.

And when I first got it. Still in the bag.

These are True Sebae, they are kind of rare from Indonesia; however they are extremely common from Sri Lanka region. I see them every month.

revive a two year old thread? why not. im a purist, and miss seeing threads about species and not just misbar/designer clown IDs.

My "Melanesia" clowns are still going strong in the FOWLR. They're just impossible to get a good picture of...

Love the A. thiellei!! Still kicking myself for not picking up the single that was listed on DD recently.

I kept the photo. I thought it was pretty good looking and not too crazy high, for how rare they are.

Its too bad ORA's pair is so brown. I saw a beautiful orange pair at a wholesalers in April of 2012 that were already sold. I thought maybe ORA had picked them up somehow.

They all seem to brown with age... though I'm not convinced that isn't due to a poor diet. I'm betting squid and cyclopeeze would do them a lot of good.
