Here is a better pic of the second mouth that is forming. Is it splitting? Like I said I see no additional skeletal growth under this new mouth but the skeleton is right under the mouth of the left. Whats your opinion?
heuerfan did you buy that other orange or was it someone else. I seen that coral but I have a standing rule to not top 200.00 on any one peice. I have had other greens and pink/red/white mixes but I am down to these two. It doesn't look like it but they both eat up quite a bit of tank room.
Thats exactly why I got rid of 4 of the ones I had. They just got too big. My LPS tank is only a 125 so with 6 of these guys in there, not a lot of room. Also doesn't help that the tank has a 24" across golden toadstool in it. I have been thinking of upgrading to a bigger tank for my LPS but the wifes not crazy about it. I have 4 tanks upstairs at the moment. I could get a bigger tank but it would have to go in the basement. Which means that I would likely be the only one to see it when I go down into the fish room.
My LFS has a "Scoly" FS that I have been considering. I have a few questions though. First it is a different kind I think it is all bumpy on all the surface. Also it is pretty dull in color like a very light green or something. My question is, They have it at the very top of their tank under a 400W DE bulb. Do you think it would be more colorful under less light? ALso is the really bumpy kind a different kind than these smoother ones? It is a nice size( about 6" across and 80. I was just thinking of waiting till I saw a more colorful one. Just curious as to what you all think
TIA

It probably will not color up much if any under different light in my experience. Unless you change the spectrum and like the color better or something. I am not sure what you mean by "bumpy". Is there one like it in this thread? Is it transparent like or more solid in color.

I would say this looks the closest to the one I saw. Not in Color but in "bumpiness" I might just have to go take a pic and post it. If it wont color up more than it is I prob wont buy it anyway. just thought it was an interesting piece.
Yea, seems like it is hard to get away from so much green. I will no longer buy anything green unless it is amazing or something. Green and Brown are overdone it my system as well. I have thought of selling off some of my earlier purchases just to make room for some color.
The green tint is mainly from the camera. There is a slight greenish tint to the more translucent tissue. I have a Nikon 5400 and I have heard that they are prone to this. I haven't learned to use the manual settings yet.
The color on the oral disk, inside of the tentacles is more accurate than the outer parts.
That red one you have is the nicest I have ever seen. I really dig how that looks. It would look better in my tank of course . . . Anyhow, do Scolymias usually color up more after importation? I've seen a number around here that look like they have potential if they brighten up. The few I've considered were rather expensive and I didn't want to spend the money unless I knew they would color up.
