~Lets see your nano aquascaping~

8 months later and this is what i came up with...

thanks master....wish they were sun polyps....they are Florida zoos....the polyps are about the size of a nickel! Grows very nicely.
I've had them for about 2yrs.

My light is about 9 inch from the top of the water....the top portion of my rockwork is about 3 in below surface. SO yes they sit close.....and they love it. Besides the current pulses right on them as well.

Cheers

not so good pic, its funny how it dosent seem like a lot of coral, yet the tank is always too small for what you have!

Dang Scott,

Nice Nano! How do you like the T5s? What is the bulb combo, and how many watts? They seem to be keepin' up with your acros? How about some more specs? Flow, skimmer, ect.

Lookin' good,

Here's the beginings of my 15 clam/sps tank.

FYI 4x24W T5's is probably a bit much. They make my 175W MH look dim. And my monitors are all yellow looking now....:smokin:

The t-5's are awesome! I bought them based on the feedback i read about them, but what truly sold me on them was this past summer, it got very hot here, and while the tank got up to around 90F at one point, and 85 ish regularly , I didn't want to think about what would have happened if i had halides! Quite a few people in the club and others locally lost whole tanks in the heat.

Most of my stonies are coloring up beautifully. The tort and the monties love it, i have the one brown acro on the left, but that one has been brown since i got it, and it was under halides then so i dont expect any coloring. Other then that, the t-5's really colored up everything. I did notice that the green brain washed a bit, i might move it to a shadier spot, but for now it is on the far edge that dosent get as much direct light (yet is still too close to the candycane i think), so hopefully it will bounce back.

I have a mj 600, mj400, and tunze mini, although I have been meaning to upgrade the 400 to a 600. there is detrius settling in the bottom so that should help with that

remora skimmer
18" aquafuge with home depot light and minijet 606 (fits the stock inlet like a glove)

1 6line wrass and 2 peppermints. Lost the clown in the heat this past summer, and haven't put in anything to replace it yet.

I use reef crystals for salt mixes, as well as a 6 stage ro/di i got from ebay. The thing works like a charm and the drinking water from it tastes great too!

Here's my 12g nano cube dx, which i have dedicated to a purely clown anemone tank (well there are a couple zoo patches in there):

Alrighty, so it's bout time I added mine... Here's my 29, it's got a 400w 15K over it along with a couple actinics. Sorry, bad pics.

Also I have a 12 gallon that I'm starting up at work... pictures soon to come, look for my Building a sweet nano thread. Let's just say I have an obession with light.... and acros... so yeah, it will be sweet.

I love your tank FrozenSurfer! I was thinking of upgrading my 10g nano to a 29g; I have few questions if you don't mind.

- is the tank reef-ready? drilled overflow? if so, where did you purchase it from?
- what kind of lighting are you using? filteration?
-how many lbs of LR/LS?
- is that a baby hippo in the 2nd pic near the chromis?

WOW some really nice tanks in here!
here's my 10G bow........

gordo663,

I think the footprint of those 15 gallons are great, if I didn't have my flat back hex 12 gallon, I would get a 15. Keep us posted with the progress on the sps/clam tank. Are you going to run a skimmer on it?

Showcase,

I like your rockwork, and the coralline algae looks great against the white sand and black background. Instead of adding more live rock, why not add more corals:) Some taller ones in the middle/back could take up the space towards the top of the tank nicely.

BTW, what kind of aquarium is it? 10 gallon bow, not sure I've seen one around. Also, what kind of lighting? Seems your coralline like the rays,

Hey hceiv, the 15 is a perfect fit for my desk and it's so nice to have a shallow tank that's easy to get into unlike my 29. I'm not planning on running a skimmer, just weekly water changes although if it comes down to it, and I need it, I don't have a problem with getting an HOB (though I won't be liking the noise, it's pretty much silent now).

I'm having a little problem with heat at the moment, so I'm fiddling around with the pump sizes, right now I've got a MJ1200 an MJ900 and an HOB from Walmart. I've got the HOB off now so hopefully that'll clear up that problem (otherwise it's fan time!). The only critter plan is for a tail-spot blenny and then plenty of clams and sps.

Now if I only had more money....

hceiv, Thankyou the top of the rocks are still around 7 inches from the top of the tank, I plan on adding a little more rock and a few more sps frags at the top then with growth it should be just right. the current lighting is a quad PC, but the coraline grew under a 32w csl. the tank is kinda rare i guess as ive never seen another one its a german company i believe Aqua el the model is a pearl it came with a molded hood/filter/light kinda like the Eclipse tanks, but this tank is glass. I like the tank alot it has absolutly perfect black silicone and all of the edges are smoothed out.

Sounds like a nice tank, I'll have to do a search for it. How/where did you find the tank?
I've got one of those quad pc too. Mine is a coralife 96 watt unit. At first I didn't like the light, but just a suggestion, if you replace the light with current-usa's 96 watt quad pc bulb, the light becomes a lot more natural and has more blue color to it than the coralife. I found that the coralife looked to red/yellow, so I was happy with the switch to the current bulb.

I got the tank from a local wholesaler that recieved it from the company as a demo but never orderd any more, and sorry it is not German it was manufactured in Poland.
I have the coralife unit also and I hate it, was really disapointed when I turned it on the first time the color is very red/yellow, all the corals looked much better with the csl light I cant wait to replace this one.

Hey there vsny2k5,
Sorry it took a bit to respond. Thanks for the compliments!!
This tank is not reef ready. It has a very modded hang on back overflow box. I have 1 400w single ended 15K XM over it along with 2 36W PC's. It's got a 15 gallon sump with a 10 gallon fuge. I have an Aqua C Urchin on it, Korallin 1502, and a home made kalkwasser reactor. My return pump is a mag 7 and I have 2 seio 600's on a homemade wavemaker. For cooling I'm using a JBJ Arctica Titanium 1/4hp, and I can keep it around 78.

Live rock... maybe 35 lbs?? Not too sure on that one... I kinda have a few hundred pounds laying around.. so I just grabbed some to make it look good. Live sand... again.. I have a few hundred pounds laying around... so I just made a 3-4" bed.

I do not have a hippo tang. It's just a lil blue tang.

If you're going to upgrade, don't just got to a 29, go bigger. You will thank me later.

So the tank is exactly 3 days old... look for my "building of a sweet nano" soon...

Thanks for the response FrozenSurfer, :)
any trouble with the hang-on overflow box? It was pain for me to deal with it when I used a hang-on overflow box awhile ago, especially if there was a power outtage during the summer. Is this a problem that I experienced out of my ignorance, or did you modify it to prevent it? I'm asking because I have few undrilled tanks lying around, and I want to put them to use if I can, without buying new drilled tanks. Also, I might be wrong, I do not know exact names of the reef fish in the hobby, but aren't hippo tangs and blue tangs the same thing?

Yes, Hippo and Blue tangs are generally the same.
You could always drill them yourself if you really wanted to.

Keep the pics comming. I havnt checked my thread for a week or so and there are like 200 posts already!! WOW.

Keep em commin guys.
