~Lets see your nano aquascaping~

What is that pink coral in the middle?

What are your specs and other info, I think it looks really nice!

Keep it up.

Heres an updated FTS of my 10 gallon with the algae under control.

Hey there vsny2k5,
Sorry it took a bit to respond. Thanks for the compliments!!
This tank is not reef ready. It has a very modded hang on back overflow box. I have 1 400w single ended 15K XM over it along with 2 36W PC's. It's got a 15 gallon sump with a 10 gallon fuge. I have an Aqua C Urchin on it, Korallin 1502, and a home made kalkwasser reactor. My return pump is a mag 7 and I have 2 seio 600's on a homemade wavemaker. For cooling I'm using a JBJ Arctica Titanium 1/4hp, and I can keep it around 78.

Live rock... maybe 35 lbs?? Not too sure on that one... I kinda have a few hundred pounds laying around.. so I just grabbed some to make it look good. Live sand... again.. I have a few hundred pounds laying around... so I just made a 3-4" bed.

I do not have a hippo tang. It's just a lil blue tang.

If you're going to upgrade, don't just got to a 29, go bigger. You will thank me later.

I thought that you weren't supposed to run Seios on a wavemaker, I have 2 820's and the box said that it would ruin them. How long have you had them like that?

tell me what you thinks

vsny2k5 - I (knock on wood) have had no problems with my overflow box. The siphon has never broken, and I'm moving about 4 times the amount of water it was designed to move thanks to a few mods that I did to it. As for the poer outages, I'm running a battery back up that is hardwired into my return pump. We generally don't have a ton of power outages, but when the power does go out it stays out for a while. I've had the back up last for well over 3 hours , Thankfully my new house has a stand by generator wired in too, just in case.

And actually that is a baby powder blue tang. not a hippo.

Wooden Nickel - generally you are not suppose to run the Seios on a wavemaker since the pump is mechanically not able to handle the hard starts. However. If you can get it to do soft starts, then you're in business. So, I made a DIY soft start wavemaker. It has been runing for about 6 months.

How do you make a softstart DIY wavemaker...im interested in trying to do this but I would need a link of some sort, or a pic.

Hey gang, just for kicks, I dug up a picture of my old 30g tank so you all can see the aquascaping on that one:

vhotank01_lg.jpg

I have a 30 gal also and I want my rockwork to look alot like yours. I dont like the look of a lot of rock, but i have a lot of rock lol. So i dont know what to do. One question, do you have any trouble with detritus getting caught under the rocks becuase they look all flat with the sandbed. Just wonderin=-)

Looks great though.

Wooden Nickel Trottman- Why is your fuge so cloudy? The display looks very nice. Good job, I really like the rockwork also.

The fuge isnt cloudy.. i am using a rubbermaid container that is made out of cloudy/clear plastic. I could not find any that were truely clear

Wow, I didn't realize how old that pic was. That is a hippo, but she has since been moved to my 120, now there is a baby powder in her place. sorry for the confusion.

As for the soft start, well, I'm a Aeronautical Engineering student, and for one of my elcectricity classes we actually had to build a project, and I built the wavemaker. I'll try to get pictures of it, but basically all you're gonna see is the box and a whole bunch of elcectrical componets. But yeah, it works great. Maybe one of these days I'll actually sit down and draw a diagram for it.
