I'm curios to see what people are getting out of their orange passion and what your basic water params are: lighting, n and p and height in the tank, mostly..
Here's a couple of photos of mine over the past several months.. I have never been able to get the orange polyps that make this coral so special...

I run t5/mh. It is up high. n: 3. p: .08
When I first got it, it had nice yellow/orange polyps (I guess there hints of this in the first photo) but lost them within weeks of being in my system...

I would love to see what others have done with their orange passions..

Mine has the bright yellow polyps. Under t5 at around 400 par. I'll try to get a shot tonight. I was told by Adam at BC that you need really high lighting to get the yellow polyps. So far he has been correct in my tank.

Pleas post a shot or two if you can. Love to see it. Mine is directly below a 150w de radium but flanked by two 250w radiums. 8 inches from the surface..
What are your n and p numbers?

Nitrate is around 2.5 per salifert

Po4 is .04-ish

Here's mine. Just an iPhone pic that was manipulated to reflect what I see with my eyes.

So i need high par to get the orange ehh?? time to move mine up!

It is my understanding that orange passion is a. tenuis. I'm certainly not sure about that but tenuis is a pretty adaptive species.
I'd be curious to see if it changes colour when you more it up..

It has orange polyps but hard to tell in the ipone pic my friend has frag of same colony under t5 with dark orange polyps we will see what it does under my lighting.

I've seen a number of pretty OP frags, wondering if anyone has a monster colony, complete with orange polyps

Very nice. This is exactly what mine looked like when I first got it. Nice orange polyps..

Me too! I'd love to see a large colony with the orange polyps..
I suspect the very low nutrients are needed for the orange but I really don't know..

woah, thats a beast man... Can you tell us where you have it in the tank and if it prefer lower nutrient or a slightly dirty tank.

Here's our big colony. Been growing 3 years now.

Is this a shot with blue LEDs only?

+1 would love to know what lighting you have it under and where your n and p are.
..and maybe I'm pushing it but what about a fts?
Thanks for posting that beauty!

Oh Matt, you had to post this didn't you, I have saved some money getting ready for the silly season, but I have to admit that I am getting the itch to add this one to my collection, lol.. Beautiful coral, EuroGTI, that is one beautiful colony, WOW!!!

Yep!!! :)
When an Orange Passion is looking the way it should, as demonstrated above.. Thanks EuroGTI, it is easily up there as one of the nicest corals out there.
I'm going to have to try to find one from a different source and see how it grows..

LOL it doesn't look like you're far from getting that orange back. Maybe just a little more tweaking of something and that's what we're trying to find out.
