Let's Talk About Water Movement in an SPS Tank.

My question is do most prefer CL systems or the power head set up such as tunze or both?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm think about redoing my set-up and removing my CL and adding another Vortech on the tank.

i attached 2 hydor koriala #4 to my sea swirls and it gives very random flow and my sps love it they have polyped out more since i did that then ever before it also took care of almost all my dead spots

Hey guys

We've had our tnak up and runninf for a few months now... the dimensions are 48"x16"x20"Deep.

We're concerned with flow, we wanted to keep a mix variety of softies LPS and mostly SPS. we are on a budget and can't really afford $200 powerheads.

Right now we have a korilia 4(1200GPH) and 2xkorilia 2's(600x2) and with our return pumping out approx 250-300GPH.

We were thinking of ditching the 2 #2's and maybe buying a second #4, how would that work.

Or should we be looking at something with ducktails so we can really direct the flow?
Any suggestions/comments/ideas are greatly appreciated!

Just for Reference, heres our tank.
Thanks!!!

somewhere along here I read a question about too much flow for fish, well I built a canyon in my standard 180 and have 3kgph pump blowing out the canyon (cool way to hide a 6100) point being I have seen my sohal and purple swim straight into the canyon, fish can handle a lot of flow

Water flow question: I have a 54g corner bow tank with SPS, LPS and Zoa. I have about 475gph from my return, a Hydor Koralia 3, and a Hydor Koralia 1.

Question 1: Is this enough, too much or not enough for SPS?
Question 2: Where would you position these for maximum coverage?
Question 3: How does this compare to an MP10 or MP40 for my tank?

Your comments are welcome.

My setup is a 5ft 100 gallon. I have koralia wavemaker 2 with 2 k4's and 2 coralvue 1300 gph powerheads. I'm keeping mainly sps with zoas and very few fleashy lps mainly brains.

Two Magnum 8's and two Koralia 4's in my 135g tank. Purchased them all new (on sale) for half the cost of one MP40w.

I love when people go on and on about how great VorTech's are and how they're so much better because there are no powercords in the tank. The way I see it, if you (or others) are fixated on 3 inches of cord at the top of your tank, the tank itself must not be very appealing.
