Let's talk sharks

An epaulette is not a great beginner shark either, a cat shark or marble shark would be a better beginner, but no shark will fit into a 300 gallon tank for more than the first couple of years. You need to at LEAST double that size to think about keeping sharks longterm. Shark and Ray central is a good info forum that has some great advice on sharkkeeping.

My LFS has one, it is a great shark. I think you will be much happier with a epaulette then a different type of shark. Personally I would not keep any other type of shark (unless I had an absolutely massive tank IE thousands of gallons, in which case I would get a black tip) My LFS has their epp in a 400 gallon cube and they could easily keep a pair. They were growing out a baby female in a 55, they really aren't huge when baby's. I think your 300 gallon will be fine. I assume you have kept marine fish before? Just read as much as you can and I'm sure you will do fine.

I have a cat shark. Very easy to take care of in my opinion. I have a 300 gallon fowlr. My puffer fish has started to take a disliking him to however. As long as you have some caves for them to hide in their fine and I would recommend supplementing their diet with shark supplements. I have a three foot shark currently that I would be happy to give away=-).

I know about the punctuation this is coming of an iPad and the funny thing is iman advanced English student anyway yes I have had and have marine fish the shark is going in my dads 300. The shark I got was a black banded cat shark. Sinces this is my first shark I did not want to go with a 550 dollar epp so I decided to go with a 150 dollar cat so if it does die wichni dour it will I will only be out 150. Ihad to do a crap load of pressure washing for this guy so I don't want to lose him.

I never make these kind of posts, but I post from my iPhone and iPad all the time and manage to put in punctuation, so that is no excuse. Your posts are to the point where they are difficult to read due to the typos (auto correct I presume) and lack of punctuation. Take a few extra seconds to proofread your posts (it isn't hard they're only a couple of lines) before submitting.

Good luck with the shark and post some pics if you can.

What are the demensions of the 300? How much liverock? Filtration system? Other fish?

A friend of mine has a pair of eppulattes in a 4'x8' pond. They have bred and she has raised a few of the offspring. They can be kept, but it takes a dedicated setup and keeper.

It's a marine land deep fiminsion 3 feet wide and filtration is cusum built for a 400 gallon best every thing ny dad picked it out and did not go cheap.
