Lettuce Nudi?

SOOOOO, yea.

im considering a lettuce Nudi for my mantis tank.

i am aware that my smithii may try and eat it, and that fine with me.

im concerned that if he does, will it kill him?

or if this thing faces some devistating slug death while bane is molting or something, how bad would it get....

id like to keep it for as long as it takes to clean this one spot of HA, and then just pass him on.

whats you mantis Guru's thoughts on this?

imo, a slug is not really high up on a mantis' menu... probably won't want to eat it unless you let the mantis get real hungry.

lettuce "nudibranchs" are not nudis at all. They're opisthobranchs, but they dont fall into the nudi suborder. they would decompose really fast because they prettymuch 100% water, but there's no danger from toxins. If you notice it going south, remove it; otherwise, i think a well established 15g should be able to handle it.

main risk to lettuce slugs is pumps and grates. you'll have to cover all your intakes and grates with sponge or a very fine mesh so that the thing doesn't get chopped up in a pump... and believe me, they almost make it their mission to do so.

sweet, thanks Justin.

i just have 1 rock that just grew a bunch of HA because its in a dead spot right above my lil gonipora.

ive directed flow away from the coral soit doesnt get blasted directly. But, a side effect is this lil dead spot.

i figured that if i can just go snag a Lettuce and leat him mow down for like a week or so and then just pass him on to another needy reefer
