LF: nothing special torch coral in Rochester area

Just wanna put some feelers out. I'm going to start looking around at the LFS's this week too. I just want something long and flowy that my clowns might host with. $50 or less would be optimal.

Anyone got anything like that?

I dunno about nems. Tanks only about 8 months old and I'm not skimming so nitrates do go up and down with the weekly water changes. They just don't seem like a smart idea for my tank. Various LPS, on the other hand, seem to love my environment and are expanding like crazy!

I just feel bad for my clowns. The seem to want to be hosted but can't find a good spot. Actually right now one of the clowns lives in an ever shrinking clump of hair algae. I had an outbreak over the summer when water changes slowed a bit:hmm2:. It's going away now tho

i would suggest an anemone as many times i have seen clowns damage or even kill lps corals when hosting because they excessivly rub the flesh into the skeliton and cut it up pretty easily . imo frogspawn would be the best option after the anemone but again they can be damaged easily . i can admit that i have heard of them hosting in lps a few times so it can be done

I was at the party hosted by The Reef Shoppe last night and they have quite a few Torch for sale.

On the other hand, I have a nice flowing Torch and my 2 Clarkiis have never even hinted at hosting with it. Zero interest. They have, however, hosted with my leather hand (killed it), my clam, my mag float and my gigantic blue zoanthids.

I wanted something for my clowns to host, so I went to ARC and bought a large orange torch, and they still only host the back corner of my tank. But on the plus side the torch looks nice.

The looking around begins today! Dunno if I'll make it up to the Reef shoppe, but ABC is on the stop list and probably The Salty Dog shop. Thanks for the tips everyone!

I won't hold out too much hope, but getting a home for the clowns is an effective excuse to buy coral, at least as far as my wife is concerned :) My poor little clown just looks so pitiful hanging around the overflow box where her big clump of algae used to be:uhoh2:
