LF TSB, RedSpot Goby, & BVN

Ah! I have been curious what the difference in species really is. I was told by Aquatouch that an African can cost up to twice as much.

Interesting! I checked some online suppliers and it seems the African go for around 50-70$, as you said, but the Brazilian go for as high as 90-100$ (Guy at AquaTouch probably just got them mixed up, he didn't check it was just off the top of his head)

Truthfuly, a Cherub is still in consideration too. Cherub or Flameback - plenty of time to decide still. Both seem to be the least aggressive of the dwarf angels.

Im making the same decision currently lol. I've always liked Cherubs but Ive heard that can be a little more aggressive than Flamebacks. Both can be coral eaters. But Ive wanted one for years. So Im probably going to pull the trigger on one as my last fish. Also daily feedings will help which Ill probably just add an automatic feeder to drop pellets throughout the day.

Everyone says they are coral eaters and eventually, no matter what, they will inevitably eat coral but every single fish is different in personality.

Worst case scenario, I lose a coral and pull the fish.

Im also kicking around the idea of a Geometric Hawkfish. Behaviors of a hawkfish like perching but they are in the Anthias Family and reef safe, what Ive read. Not many people have them that I know of.

I have one and its a really cool fish. Always sticking his head out of the rocks waiting for feeding time. JP

I had a Huchtii Anthias in my 40g BR that was a great open water swimmer. Pretty Anthias under actinic and doesn't need to be in pairs or trios.

I also liked the Chalk Bass I saw at Reef Culture. Did some research on em and it seems like they are open swimmers.

Stopped by Reef Monsters to pick up the BVN - very healthy looking. Huge variety of fish, corals, and inverts(!) are stocked for their anniversary sale. I went in for a $20 BVN and walked out with $200 of choice chalice frags, inverts, and a HUGE mandarin for $15.

Great choice with the Madarina! Lets see some pics of your pickups!

Do you know if any of the Madarinas are on frozen and flakes or just pods?

None of the LFS I've talked to get frozen trained mandarins on any kind of regular basis. I figure we are lucky to have Reef Stew available to us to seed and feed our displays. I've heard mandarin keepers say they've used pod supplements like Pods+ (or Reef Stew) to help train onto frozen too!

This one is the fattest I've seen for sale. She is already ruling the tank (might not even add a 'show fish' with her in the tank - she's quite showey) Hopefully I'll have a build thread up here with high quality dslr pictures sooner rather then later, but here's two quick iPhone shots of her (him?):
