LFS Failure!!

Markheims got 7 bta's in on 9/18 and today all 7 are either dying or dead. Why don't they buy within their limits of knowledge or bring someone in who can properly care for the fish/corals. Everything looks like crap, how do the sell anything!?

Sorry for the rant....just irritated

New livestock orders come into LFS's all the time and unfortunately there can be a high mortality rate on some orders....nothing to damn an LFS over IMO.

All corals look like they are dying though...
They had a dual t5 over half the tank....4ft above it
Thing is it wasnt always like this

They had a guy that was really good, but he left and opened the Salty Dog ;)

Markheims isn't the only LFS that puts nems under such weak lighting. It's not like it costs huge money to give nems enough lighting.

Especially when on the shelf they have multiple types of led lights and a quad t5ho....and the frag tank has a halide over it. Its all going to waste

I feel bad for the livestock I had to leave behind. I go back every few months or so when I'm in town and try to offer some advice, but I get more glares than thank yous.

and we thank you for opening the salty dog, I wouldn't even be close to where I am now in reef-keeping skills without you

I tried to give some advice and he just brushed it off. He said maybe the nems were just opening up cause they just turned the lights on...this was at 2pm...and the lights were just coming on!? I told him they should move them under the halide and check water params but might not do any good cause they were dead or dying, and he walked away. The frag tank could be nice but the frags mounted on plugs were just laying on their side (no rack or substrate) and there is bubble and hair algae all over it.

The good/bad news is that cream still rises to the top and sh*t still sinks to the bottom. Survival of the fittest applies in retail, too.

I don't give advice unless someone asks or they are friends of mine . Nobody likes to here you shouda. Haven't been to Markheims in about 6 years ;missed Adam's time there.

"I take it you've never laid one of those really gassy turds that floats so hard it refuses to flush?" Allow me to clarify...Cream still rises to the top, sh*t still sinks to the bottom and creamy sh*t doesn't fit in the paradigm.

I always feel bad about Markheim and that it seems to run in cycles. They put in effort and it improves and then they hit a rut...it suffers for a few months and then someone tries again.....right now they are at a Lindsay Lohan low.

Exactly. I did speak to one of the guys again today and they are gonna try to get it back up and running again (and will need corals) in a month or two.
