i'm not sure if you are normally able to go in the back and check out some of the huge heads of coral they have

Yes, you can go in the back without any problem. I go in the back every time I go there.

Collecting detritivore/starter kits is very time consuming. They have requested that we gather pre-orders (if possible) for these items. Please e-mail us your critter order at lovereefs@yahoo.com no later than Thursday April 3, 2008. The item/price list is available on their website. They will have these items bagged and waiting for us. Pre-ordering will free up the staff to better serve us.
Was anyone else shocked by the price of the Detritivore Kits? I placed my preorder (x3) based on the price list available on their website, as was recommended. After looking at my credit card statement and seeing $273, things didn't add up (unless sales tax in Terra Haute is 30%). So I called down there to find out if the prices on the website were correct, and was told "oh no... those prices haven't been updated in years." They told me that it's ok because somewhere on their site there is a disclaimer stating "prices are subject to change". Now I feel like somewhat of an idiot because 2 of those orders were for someone else… and I recommended the purchases. I'm not sure I would have purchased my kit at $85/ea, let alone recommend this to someone else. The person I talked to down there said he would have Morgan call me back, but no one ever did. Oh well… just thought I’d mention it.

I was a little upset about the price too
I would have never ordered one for $85
but oh well

thats shady business practices ...prices are subject to change, but if you are still using your website to conduct business, the business should have an obligation to update it...i could understand if it was outdated by a month or someothing but they definately said years...I would cause a stink...

I was very shocked at the price as well
I guess I should have asked before ordering
sure glad I didn't order 1 for my brother

Hmmm... I tried to find the "prices subject to change" statement, but no luck. Did anyone see that anywhere on their site? I did find that the website was "Last modified: 26 July 2001".

Maybe I'll shoot them a quick e-mail. If nothing else, this should be fixed for future business transaction. Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't had issues with this before.

The site said $70.00....Close enough. :)
True, I only paid $45 more than I was expecting, which is really like pennnies to me. :D :p

:D Imagine that.....something in the reef keeping world costing a little more that we expected. I for one have gotten pretty used to that and hay, at least it's going to a good cause. ;)

I don't think Gobbles will use it though. He gave up on deodorant when he heard that it can cause breast cancer. ;)
