LifeReef Sumps

Anyone here running a large LifeReef sump that can give their opinion on it and maybe some pictures of it installed?

Thanks,

I don't have one of their sumps but have their VS3-24 skimmer, and love it. I replaced a Vertex Alpha 170 with the LifeReef skimmer and do not regret doing so.

Everyone I have heard from loves their LR Skimmers, I will adding one to my build. I just need to get on Jeff's list.

I installed one on a 280 gallon aquarium and am somewhat mixed on it.

Pros: excellent build quality and will last for many many years. His skimmers are the best on the market. They are truly set and forget. He also includes everything you need to get the sump plumbed and provides good set up instructions. Jeff is quick to respond to any questions as well.

Things to improve: They do not have the aesthetics of the newer flashy colored sumps. I do not like the media reactors at all. They clog very easily and are a pain to fill. No options for socks either. Instead in flows down the tube then over a baffle then a sponge. This is great until the tank shuts down for feeding causing the water level to rise and displacing the sponge. I think a sock option/sponge rack at the bottom of the overflow would be a better option.

Have you seen his latest stuff? The green and black looks good. :)

My sponges fit tight. I actually used that idea on my custom sump I had built for my current tank. I was never a big fan of socks.
Yours must have been cut just slightly too loose if they floated out.
